I've purchased a PC game, Rome Total War along with a new decent gaming computer (Gateway) windows Vista a couple of days ago, and started playing that game the first 2 days it was running smooth on the 3 rd day it started giving me problems like I would be playing all of a sudden the screen would go dark a few seconds then a loading bar appears on the bottom it loads then the game would come back on, then it happens all over again every 6 to 10 seconds, over and over non stop, sometimes one right after the other, what do you suggest I do. Note: I do not have internet purposely, best virus protection, is there a way to fix this problem without internet. One other thing, I looked up the game on the internet on a friends computer, it showed this game is not compatible with windows Vista, again your help and support is greatly appreciated. What is the solution to play this game with no problems.
That is your problem. If the game is not compatible with Windows Vista, It won't play it, or play it normally. What I mean is that the game is pretty old (in date created), and the software used to create it was not meant for Vista. Because Vista came afterwards (I think). And Vista has to downgrade while running the game. But it could only downgrade so much. And when it downgrades, it's actually working harder to play the game than having a whole bunch of stuff open at the same time. Vista playes it, but only for a while, because it's not going to downgrade any more.
Hope this helps.
P.S. If you want to play the game, I recomend you get a computer with XP.

as you have windows ultimate, you might want to get yourself XP mode and try running the game in that. get it from here: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/download.aspx
First thing is first, go to your install folder. (This is usually found in the C;\program files folder, i forget the full command path) and see if the .exe file is there. If it is not, try uninstalling and reinstalling the game.
Try this: Go to windows explorer: go to computer: Local disk (C:): Program Files: Activision (or sega): Rome-Total war: Data: world: maps: campaign: Imperial_campaign: descr_strat: Then you copy and paste all the factions over to playable, and delete them from non-playable
First of all i know this sounds silly but check you're entering it correctly. You may have to manually enter the dashes if you enter it into a single box. Also can you clarify, is it the entire game not working or just gamespy. If the entire game try downloading and entering your code into a program called Steam and taking it from there.
try re-installing the game. if that doesn't work, you have to go back to the store you bought it at and try to trade it for a new one, because the game is missing an important start file, probably not able to be founddue to a virus or a scratch on the disc. if you cant get 1 for free, you have to buy a new one.
