I recently bought a Sega Genesis console. Power light goes on but no picture appears on tv. I have Comcast digital cable and have tried hooking up the console with the RF adapter using the cable antenna through the digital box and bypassing it. I have tried every possibility of configurations....all of them! Is it the console that is broken or the original video cable of the genesis (that goes into the RF adapter). I assume its the console and if that is the problem...where can I get it fixed? I live in NJ and I would've thought there would be experienced repair places but for now I've had no luck.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
The problem is most likely not the console. The first thing you should try is cleaning the contacts on your games. Most of the games have tamper proof fasteners so unless you have the right tools you won't be able to open them. You can take a q-tip with a little alcohol (damp not wet) and clean both sides of the circuit board on the cartridge until the q-tip comes out clean. Let it dry before sticking it into the console. If you do this to a couple of games with no luck try taking an emery board (for fingernails) and gently inserting it into the connector in the console a few times all along the length of it. Make sure to only push it straight in and pull it straight out. If you try pushing it side to side while it is in there you could damage the connector.

I have an LCD tv and am wondering how to get a signal from the genesis given that I am running my cable via a HD box.
I can't get it to work either. Same setup. Comcast digital HD DVR box used with the RF converter. At one point I got audio, but I can't get any image on the screen. I bought a new RF converter cord today and it still didn't fix the problem. I'm beginning to think there's some sort of problem with the conversion through the Comcast box.
