SOURCE: I already own a kaito Ka1101 Radio - I have lost

From owner's manual: Press CHARGE button, power indicator will flash in the display for 3 seconds, press number button 1...6 to select charge time from 1 to 6 hours according to battery capacity in flash time,otherwise the unit will exit from charge mode.

Don't know how to recharge the batteries while they are installed in the radio.
Had to repeat depressing the 'Reset' button at least 4 times before the set would come on. This may have been due to fact that the unit had not been used in almost a year. Also found that the set was shutting down when the status of the battery charge was checked. This was most likely caused by two defective batteries. Put in a new set of 4 rechargeable batteries and unit is now working fine.

Battery Get Discharged within few Minutes even after Full Charge
I have the same problem, and for now an external charger is the best solution. Also try resetting 4 times. I also got a new power supply, but problem persist. Good luck!!!
