Hi Ken,
If we do have the same tablet, the link I used help me best. The downloads from the forums didn't work for me for some reason. Here is the post that I used: WM8650_1.3.0_HoneyCombMOD_20110510-HcH.7z ' Game Front orUberoid_WM8650_2.2_v1.2.2_NL_20110414_8-HcH.7z
If I'm not mistaken, one of those links from markdmac was the one that helped me. I believe it was the second link from MediaFire although I am not sure. I downloaded the file and installed it just like everyone else had posted. You can find his entire thread by going to the first page of this thread where the download link is as well as extra information that might be useful to you. Here's his post in entirety:

I finally found an image for the WM8650 7" Android tablet (non 3G) that makes the tablet rock! Installation is super easy but does wipe the device. Backup any data you want to keep. You will also need an SD card you can format. The difference in loading this ROM is night and day. No more strange Chinese apps, no more lockups or unexplained reboots and access to the real Android Market directly on the PC. Any apps I paid for on my Android Phone were available for download to the tablet now too!
Download Uberoid ROM.
Gamefront
Download SD Formatter and install it on a Windows PC.
SD Formatter 3.0 for SD/SDHC/SDXC - SD Association
Connect the SD card to your computer and use the SD formatter to create an empty FAT32 volume.
Unzip the Uberoid download to an empty folder on your PC first, then copy the files onto the SD card. (for some reason extraction directly to the SD card failed on me)
The wmt_scriptcmd file and FirmwareInstall folder should be on the root of the card.
With the android tablet turned off, insert the SD card, and turn it back on.
During startup the android tablet will read the SD card and install the firmware. It took about 4 minutes for the process to complete before the device rebooted into the new OS. Watch the screen because the SD card must be ejected when the firmware installation completes or the upgrade will run again after the device restarts.
After installation I went into the applications list and found an app for fixing the market. I was then able to go into the regular Android Market after setting up my WiFi connection. I found it necessary to search for GMail in the market to update the version contained in the ROM image. After doing that I was able to access GMail on the tablet.
Everything else I did was related to setting up the environment the way I like such as using ADW Launcher as my default launcher. Moving icons around etc.
* Note that there is a large clock widget on the home screen that will prevent you from putting icons on the desktop, I removed that.
Overall this improved the device 1000%. I was really disappointed in the tablet and now I am extremely happy with it.
Clarification: Others have been reporting that they have tried the information I have posted, some with success and others without success. Make sure your loading the right ROM for your device. The Tech Know web site has many ROMs to try. My device has a blue LED, WiFi Only and is 7 inches. If your device does not fit that description, you can still follow my upgrade instructions but you need a different ROM.
I believe that these are the instructions that I used to install the ROM onto the tablet. If this doesn't work, let me know and I will see if I can find another method that I probably used.
The links from TechKnow didn't seem to want to work on my tablet for some reason.
If Mark is still using the forum, he seems to be the absolute best at getting these tablets to be rooted correctly. If not, I'll try to help you as best as I possibly can.
If these instructions don't help either, I would suggest heading over to TechKnow's website and seeing what kinds of information they have. The guy who runs that forum is a genius and created the hack and is regularly on the forum. He also created a thread there that details how to install the ROM which should be the same exact method that we use, that's if you don't want to wait around for us to get back online or something.
Please let me know if this helps with a rating. Also, follow-up to this thread if you have any further questions. Thanks!

Testimonial: "Thanks Alex K. for your knowledge. unfortunately I could not use this method as I do not have a SD Card to use at this time. I just bought this tablet from the pawnshop to give to my daughter as her first tablet. It has games on it and will log on to the wifi, and internet. But it just has way too many extra files on it that I could not access. So I was going to try to get it back to factory settings. When I tried, It wanted a password to activate the factory reset."

Once you've reset it to factory defaults, you'll probably need to establish your initial connection to it using a Cat 5 cable - possibly crossover. Then you can visit it's internal web page (address in manual) to enable WiFi, etc.
What model was that?
why you do update fireware without backup
SOURCE: Cannot Play .wmv file with WMA 9.2 and WMV 9 professional codecs
Have had same happen. Try clicking right and choosing open with....and choose windows Media player for list. Don't know why this is the part that works for me. double clicking the file has never worked for me. I get the wmp with the same error but when I select the wmp and let IT open the file....it works....I think it is magic and a stubborn way to do this but it works

How to restore after pc recovery
I recomend printing this before moving your computer into safe mode.
--""Before you complete the process""
Click START
Click MY Computer
Double click the main hard drive (C:)
Click DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS
--mouse over all the user in this folder, the one that shows empty,
and once clicked on does not give you premission to open is the folder
you want to use when completing the process. This should be the user
(user name) you had before the restore, is may have a .PC(with numbers
behind it)
--write down and remember this folder name
1. Shut down the computer.
2. Turn the power on, and when the blue HP or Compaq screen appears, press F8 to display the Windows Advanced Options Menu .
3.Use the arrow keys to move up to Safe Mode and press Enter .
4.Press Enter on Microsoft Windows Whistler Personal or Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition .
5.Click Administrator and, enter your password (if necessary) or press Enter .
6.A window will appear to prompt for confirmation to keep operating in Safe Mode .
7.Click Yes .
8.Click Start and My Computer . Then, double-click the main hard drive ( C: ) and Documents and Settings .
9.Right-click the folder name of the user account and click Properties . (This is the folder you found and wrote down before starting this process)
10.Click Security .
11.Click Advanced . On the Owner tab,(third tab over) click the checkbox to select the Replace owner on subcontainers and objects option.
12. Click Apply .
13.Click Yes to the security message.
14.Click OK .
15.Click OK again.(you should start to see the files being transferred that your trying to access)
--Restart your computer in normal operation.
--Login to your user name
--make a new folder on your desktop and name it "BINGO", open that folder and create a folder named "FOUND IT"
click START
click MY COMPUTER
Double click the main hard drive (C:)
click DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS
--from here go to any user that does not contain adminstrator, or all users in the file name
(if you don't find the folder your looking for exit out of that user and choose another until you find the Folder)
--once you open each user
click DESKTOP
--look through the desktop folder, your looking for the folder
BINGO open that and you should see the folder FOUND IT, this is the
user that you want to copy all your lost files from the old user to.
--Wirte down this user name
Exit back to the DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS folder
--- at this point you should see all the users folders again,
however when you click on the user folder you used the process on (the first folder you have written down) that folder will now open.
--From here you need to move your files back from (the first folder you have written down) to your currently operating user name (the second folder you have wirtten down)
--you should see all of your desktop, my music, my pics, my movies, (in the first folder you have written down) however
until you move these files from the old user to your current user the
computer will not always find them in your basic progams(ie.--windows
movie maker, media player, ext.)
--with some of the folders it may be easier to move them first to a desktop folder and then reorganise them from there.
This should work you will get your lost docs. back however you may
still need to reinstall some progams that you lost. Moving your files
back to your new user can be another interesting issue, however you
should for now have all your lost info recovered. Feel free to e-mail
me or post any questions or if you need more help.
