SONY STR-DE445 UNLOCK CODE

Follow the steps below to troubleshoot if the word PROTECT or PROTECTOR is flashing on the A/V receivers display.

  1. Check the speaker wires and speakers for proper connections.
  2. Reduce the volume level. IMPORTANT: If the receiver is played back at maximum volume level it may enter the protect mode. Maximum volume listening will cause the receiver to run very hot and may drain the output capacitors.
  3. Disable the surround sound option if both the A and B speakers are being used simultaneously.
  4. Ensure the top of the receiver has proper ventilation to keep it from overheating.
  5. If the message only occurs when using a DVD player, the sampling frequency may be set too high. IMPORTANT: Some receivers provide compatibility with the higher sampling frequencies through alternate connections. Consult the owners manual for specific information.
  6. Unplug the AC power cord for about 1 to 2 hours to reset the output transformers.
If the issue is still unresolved, service may be required.

I think my receiver just blew. hissing noise from all speakers, now i get no sound - but the display still works...help

unplug the receiver, Everything- speakers, input/outputs. The only cord to the device left should be the power cord.
Power up the receiver, set the tuner on a strong station. check sound quality with headphones only.
If that was ok, now pick one speaker to test all channels with. Follow the procedure above with the
speaker. check each output channel with the tuner as a source using the one speaker. Good Luck!

Trying to hook up sony s-master with componet cables an the s-master displays on the display ''PROTECT UNPLUG'' however with nothing plugged in the s-master, works fine

Hi,
Check speaker wires, any wire seems shorted and causing Protect Unplug error message in receiver.
Good way to sort out bad wire is plug one speaker at a time, turn On receiver check, turn Off, then plug next speaker wire until you find out what speaker wire activates protection circuit of receiver.
Thanks.

Speakers make a popping noise

You probably don't have a problem with the speakers. Next time you turn the receiver on, before you put on any music, turn the volume control back and forth several times and see if you don't hear a hissing in the speakers. If so, the volume control needs cleaning inside. You can buy audio contact cleaner from Radio Shack. The best solution is to unplug the stereo unit, remove the top cover to expose the controls. Spray the cleaner into the controls (you might as well do them all while your in the unit). The cleaner is highly volatile and will remove dust and debris but leaves no residue. Once you complete this operation you can replace the top cover and the problem should be resolved. If not, you may need to repeat the procedure.
Note; Be patient. It takes time for dust to build up and time to remove it all.

Onkyo TX-SR606 power on default input setting and hissing sound

I had the same problem for more than a year but just lived with it. The solution is to reset the receiver to factory defaults. Page 96 of the owners manual, "turn the unit on and while holding down the VCR/DVR button, press the ON/STANDBY button. CLEAT will appear on the display and the unit will turn off". Problem solved!

'protect' blinked and then no sound or display

Disconnect the outside speakers "at the speakers" then turn back on. If the problem persists, disconnect the speakers at the back of the receiver and try again. If the problem stops "at the receiver" check your terminals and make sure no braids are touching each other. If the problem stops when you disconnect at the speaker, chances are good it's a bad voice coil from moisture. Most "outdoor" speakers with a brand name on them have a pretty good warranty. Good speakers have a 10 year warranty and the manufacturer will replace. If you still have an issue, post a comment and I can help you some more

Receiver standby/on switch is flashing and cannot turn receiver back on

Try checking your speaker cables as one of them may be touching the case of the amp,or touching another cable, this can cause a short and cause the error message. The amp is protecting itself .
hope this helps.

Handset doesnt work

Do you have another phone (cell phone) you can use to make a test call to yourself? If you can answer a call and the Uniden transmits voice OK, then it is probably the speaker and may just be a bad solder connection. If the handset does not transmit or receive I seriously doubt you have a bad microphone AND a bad speaker, you'd be looking at something more serious.

Static or hiss noise

I have the same problem. Only one speaker is hissing and only for analog sources. No hissing when I select Coax.
