I recently tried to install a new WD320Gb HD and windows XP won't load. I loaded it to the drive from another computer and Windows won't successfully boot up. I get a Stop: 0x0000076B (0xF7946640, 0x0000034,0x00000000, 0x00000000) blue screen. Also I installed a second 512DDR2700 stick and moved the 1st into the dual memory slot. I flashed the BIOS to the latest as a remedy but he same message/screen appears. What to Do? It's hard to find a socket A board for my athlon XP2200 these days.

The HDD wouldn't install XP in the original computer. I could install Win98 or ME. The XP install would return a similar stop message. I disabled all the disk and Bios caching as recommended for the particular error code with no better results. I used a different computer to see if the HDD was bad. The original HDD will not work currently either. The error message is that no FAT 16 or 32 partition exists. The HDD is still readable in the other computer, though. I removed all the extra boards (sound, TV Tuner, etc) and moved the original 512mb RAM back to the single location but got no improvement. I can't even boot into safe mode.

You installed the 320GB drive into another system & installed windows XP. Than removed the drive & installed it into another computer!
All of windows internal drivers for the first install will not function in the second. (Windows XP is going nuts).
You have to do a fresh install while in the system you want to keep the drive in. This is why your getting the stop errors & blue screens.
You must have a reason of why you did not install the 320GB drive into the second computer for the XP installation?
Care to provide the why?

    Western Digital's web site;

    http://support.wdc.com/product/download....

Enter the drives model number in the search window. You want to do two things here. One, register the drive if you haven't done so.

Two, you want to download Data Lifeguard Tools. This software goes onto a floppy disk. You connect your WD to the system & boot to the floppy disk. The software will allow you to check the drive for problems & more importantly allow you to format the drive.

    There are other perks you can turn on or off. These other perks can only be done with WD's Data Lifeguard Tools software. If you can not find this software on WD's site try the next link;

    http://www.computerpi.com/wd.htm

Scroll down to the bootable floppy version. Use the downloaded software to create the partition FAT & (Remove any if present). Allow WD’s software to format the drive. You can choose your FAT too. Read about the software from the link above.

Once done, you should be able to boot to the windows CD & do a fresh install.

Here is the link for your board; (Biostar M7NCD Pro).

I CANNOT LOAD WINDOWS XP-PRO. TRIED TO RUN RECOVERY FROM WINDOWS CD. WITHOUT SUCCESS. THAT IS WEHN EVEN DIR FAILED. CANNOT SEE HD FROM A USB ADAPTER.

Your disk-drive has "died". What's the manufacture-date on the label on the top of the disk? Before 2000?

Any 2.5GB disk-drive is both out-of-warranty and out-of-production.

Fujitsu claims that the MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures) is 500,000 power-on hours, which is about 57 years, but that's no help to you.

Currently, 2.5GB is _barely_ enough disk-space to install Windows XP, run Windows Update to get all the security-patches, and to install optional software (such as Windows Media Player 11 and iTunes).

It's time for you to buy a new disk-drive.

Computer wont bootup windows xp error loading operating system drive 1 not found please help me

1.Restart your computer. Immediately after the screen goes blank for the first time, press the F8 key repeatedly. The Windows Advanced Options menu appears. If the menu does not appear, restart your computer and try again. Use the cursor keys on your keyboard (your mouse will not work) to select Last Known Good Configuration, and then press ENTER. Windows XP attempts to start.

.
If you recently installed new hardware, shut down your computer and disconnect the hardware. Then, restart Windows XP and troubleshoot your hardware to get it working properly.
3.
Restart your computer and press F8 again. This time, choose Safe Mode and press ENTER. Windows XP attempts to start in Safe Mode, which does not automatically start programs and hardware, and displays very primitive graphics. If Windows XP starts successfully in Safe Mode, you can remove any programs or updates you have recently installed. Then, restart your computer normally.

Performing a repair installation of Windows XP can fix many serious startup problems. While you should not lose any of your important documents, you might lose settings, and you will need to reinstall many updates.
Before performing a repair installation of Windows XP, you should have both your Windows XP CD and your product key available.
To perform a repair installation of Windows XP
1.
Insert your Windows XP CD into your computer.
2.
Restart your computer. If prompted, press a key to start from the CD-ROM.
When the Welcome to Setup page appears, press ENTER on your keyboard.
On the Windows XP Licensing Agreement page, read the licensing agreement. Press the PAGE DOWN key to scroll to the bottom of the agreement. Then, press F8.
When prompted, press R to have Windows XP attempt to repair Windows by reinstalling important Windows components.
The repair and reinstallation process might take more than an hour. Eventually, Setup prompts you to answer questions just as if you were installing Windows XP for the first time. For detailed instructions, read Install Windows XP.

WD Elements 1TB HD freezes Windows and asks me to "insert a disk"

I suspect that your motherboard was not designed to work with this huge drive. How old is your computer? Have you checked the computer manufacturer's website for info on what size hard drives can be used with that model?
You might still be able to use it by installing software called a dynamic drive overlay; check the website of the big drive's manufacturer for software.

WINDOWS XP WON'T LOAD TO HARD DRIVE

1) If you are trying to install from a bootable disk and trying to make a fresh install, you will not come across this error.

2) If you are trying to repair the existing installation, you might need to use FIXBOOT command and try. Please refer the below link before you try this.

Hard Drive Prevents any other windows device from loading

Hi, Mark Here.
Yes the setup on the xp install puts drivers into memory, but being an older version of windows B4 sta was out it does not have drivers to support it.

You could go to Microsoft & search for a new version of setup install drivers that includes sta, & download to thumb.
Really typical Windows Failure (driver not available freeze up or blue screen).
