Sony Rear projection 57 in screen all red for 10s then turns off

It sounds more like the green CRT has an issue.

Typically it is an indication that the blue CRT is failing. If screen turned red, then the red CRT would be failing, etc..

Sometimes you might see the screen flash blue and then go solid blue, then shutdown.

You need an experienced repair person to fix it. It can be expensive.

The red picture tube is bad, you must replace before it cause damage to the boards.

unless you work on t.v.s this is nothing you can service.check your warranty &/or call a qualified service tech.hope this helps

Red CRT is doing short circuit in the neck. You can try to open the front panel and to hit easy the neck with wood or something and to decrease the red screen a bit. If doesn't work then replace the CRT.

Sounds like the red color tube is goeing bad you wil hafto call in a tech to conferm it Sony is noted for tubes goeing bad, in the future leave sony alone
