Question about Sony KP-51WS500 51" Rear Projection Television
Tvrepairguy,
I am not sure what you are asking by a blue video image. For the past yearish there had been a blue tint to the picture when viewing. Recently it got worse--as I stated in the problem, after 10 seconds, the screen starts tinting blue and by 20 seconds or so, the entire screen is blue (no visible picture at this point).
After this happened, I did take the back rectangular panel off to watch the projectors during this 20 second phenomena. When the tv is first turn on the green, red, and blue were on. After 10 seconds the red and green faded out leaving only the blue on (the red and green went dark). IE. the same time that the picture of course turns completely blue.

You have all three projection tubes that are failing. This was a common issue for this year. Depending on serial number 2 of the 3 CRT's (green and blue) are no longer available. They will have to be pulled and rebuilt.

I have a KP57WV600. After 10 seconds, the screen starts tinting blue. After about 20-30 seconds the entire screen is blue (no picture).
I took off the back panel to watch the projectors during this period of time (30 seconds) the tv turns on the screen is complete red,at this time the three projectors are on but the blue and green faded out leaving only the red on (the blue and green went dark). then the tv turns off.
i got the same problem screen is all jsut about all red then turns off.
No picture, blue screen, blue is bright, red and greed faint then red and green go off then tv shuts down.
When my rear projection tv is turned on, it appears to look fine...after about 10-20 minutes, the screen turns very blue. Is this fixable or is it not worth me hauling this big thing to the repair shop for an estimate?
my tv does the same, i also took off the back cover, the red lens comes on first, then the blue lens, then the green trys to come on but then all the lenses just turn off, but i still got sound. is this gonna cost a lot?
