Unplug the compressor light and fan worked has the compression got a fuse

Check the start and overload relay if the compressor isn't doing anything that's the first thing I'd try. Usually the overload goes out. Is the white one plugged in over the start relay. Take them both off and shake them. If they rattle replace both. If only one rattles replace the one only. When it's the compressor there isn't much else you can do if the relay and overload aren't bad you can try a 3 in 1 starter but I wouldn't keep using it. Use it to get the compressor running again then reinstall the relay and overload.

Overload relay rattles, but the relay doesnt. could overload be weak? i do here it clicking off after a few seconds of the compressor trying to start. its an armana bx20s5w bottom freezer. both relay tests...

:
Hi!
A relay starts the compressor with a higher voltage and then quickly kicks out
It does a lot of clicking (trying to start over and over again)
If thats what is happening with yours
Its best for a tech to replace The relay but you can do it
Take your model number to your Local Appliance parts store they will have a diagram
showing you how to install the relay. Its called a hard start relay
I use part no ERP410 POWER START RELAY, CAPACITOR AND OVERLOAD all in one. (110 v)

Not cooling clicking sound refrig compresso and

IT'S MOST LIKELY THE START RELAY/OVERLOAD PROTECTOR ON THE SIDE OF THE COMPRESSOR. UNPLUG UNIT AND PULL START RELAY OFF AND SHAKE. IF SOUNDS LIKE IT'S FULL OF GRAVEL IT'S BAD, OR GET VOLT /OHM METER AND CHECK CONTINUITY BETWEEN THE START AND RUN TERMINALS ON BACK SIDE OF RELAY, WHILE YOUR THERE CHECK CONTINUITY BETWEEN THE BACK SIDE OF OVERLOAD AND WHERE L1 WIRE COMES IN FROM THE HARNESS. IF ALL THAT CHECKS OUT THE COMPRESSOR MIGHT BE BAD OR DRAWING TOO MUCH CURRNET FOR THE FACTORY START DEVICE. YOU DIDN'T NOTE A SERIAL #, SOME OF THOSE MODELS WERE UNDER RECALL FOR THE RELAY/OVERLOAD PROBLEM.

HOW DO YOU REPLACE A START RELAY SWITCH ON A FRIGIDAIRE SIDE BY SIDE MODLE FRU26SA

Power off i.e unplugged
Open the back
Remove retaining clip on wiring side of compressor plastic cover.
NOTE wiring connections to terminals on the OLD relay. 1, 2 4 4 ect... make a simple wite color to terminal number sketch.
PULL off PTC relay WITH terminals by pulling HORIZONTALLY (Usually to the left / 9 O'clock position)
NOTE the thermal overload comes off WITH the PTC relay.
Remove wire from Thermal overload terminal and transfer the thermal overload to the new PTC relay.
Slide NEW PTC relay onto compressor terminals
Transfer remaining wires from OLD PTC to the correct terminal on the new PTC relay.

TEST compressor start before installing cover... PLUG in unit

After the test unplug the unit... reinstall the plastic cover and wire clip.

Reinstall back panel

Return unit to service.

Thanks for choosing FixYa

NOT COOLING ....CLICKING SOUND FROM COMPRESSOR

Compressor Start Relay/Overload or Compressor is bad. A bad compressor can cause Start Relay/Overload to go bad but the only way to know is to replace the Start Relay/Overload if you still have the same prob. or it works a week or so and it happens again the Compressor is bad or if luck is on your side it will work.

My kelvinator upright freezer stopped freezing and it just kicks on and kicks right back of what could be wrong with it?

Start Relay/Overload or Compressor is bad. A bad compressor can make a Start Relay/Overload go bad but the only way to find out if compressor or Start Relay/Overload is bad is to replace the Start Relay/Overload if it starts and stays running you fixed it if Prob. returns in a week or so or if you have the same Prob. after replacing the relay the compressor is bad.

Bad overload relay

The compressor is usually fitted with a thermal overlload switch. It is usually secured to the compressor with some sort of spring mount so it maintains physical contact
The parts guy was probably talking about a hard start kit. They typically are a universal fit, and come with instructions. Be sure to check the electrical supply to the outlet for the fridge. Excessive voltage drop when it tries to start will cause such problems, and will eventually cause damage to the compressor.

Refrigertor cycle rapidly

2109, start with the overload and relay on the compressor, see if it's contained in a white box. Take it off and shake it, see if it rattles. If so, that's probably the problem. If you find the overload and relay good, the compressor may be bad, the good news is that is covered by warranty for 5 years, parts and labor. The overload and relay will not be covered under warranty, could be expensive if an outside service does the job. Part number for the relay/overload, 4387938. Catriver..post back.
