Hum from tv

try unplugging any equipment that you have attached to the tv one at a time, such as dvd players, surround sound, cable box, etc. also if you have a cable box attached, try adjusting the volume on it. if you have everything unplugged from tv and it still hums, then it may be a tv issue

I have a Vizio 42' and a cable box and there's a constant humming

I think I had the same problem. This is how I fixed it.

I have my vizio 42 hooked up to a Harmon Kardon surround sound, and the digital cable box. Essentially, I can adjust the volume 3 ways - through the tv, cable box or av receiver. The humming sound happens when you have the volume maxed out on the av receiver and not the cable box.

For example, the sound level on my Harmon Kardon goes from -10 (lowest) to 10 (loudest), with 0 being the middle ground. The buzzing was happening when the Harmon Kardon was set to 10, and I was using the cable box volume to adjust the sound. To fix it, I turned down the volume on my receiver to 0, which may be about 50% max volume of the receiver. Then, I switched devices and used the volume on my cable box. This got rid of the static I was getting. Hope that helps.

Humming from HLP5063WX TV and no color

Hi,

Initially, it would be suggested to try viewing a DVD or a VCR and determine if the humming sound & no color persists. If yes then conclusively, there is something wrong with the TV. If none, then the source of the humming sound would be the tuner section (internal to the TV) or your cable TV/aerial or your cable box/decoder.

If the humming sound and no color is present in either TV tuner/channel and with an external video source such as a DVD, then chances are that a large filter capacitor inside the TV needs to be replaced. It would probably be in the power supply section AC side.

If the humming sound and no color is present only on TV tuner/channel, you would have to check your TV signal source. If you are using an aerial, it may require re-orientation; if it were a basic cable, then you would need to consult with your cable provider; if you are using a cable box/decoder, then the problem could either be with the box/decoder or again your cable provider.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.
