My camra is stuck open and won't close or take any pictures.

A stuck shutter is another common failure mode for digital cameras. The symptoms of a stuck or "sticky" shutter are very similar to CCD image sensor failure. The camera may take black pictures (for shutter stuck closed), or the pictures may be very bright and overexposed, sometimes with lines, especially when taken outdoors (for shutter stuck open). To confirm a stuck shutter, put the camera in any mode other than "Auto", and turn the flash OFF (you don't want to blind yourself for the next step). Next look down the lens and take a picture. You should see a tiny flicker in the center of the lens as the shutter opens and closes. If no movement is seen, then you likely have a stuck shutter. By the way, my wife happens to own a SD1000. Great little camera, but it's prone to stuck shutter every once and a while. Easily fixed each time though by simply opening the battery door while on, and gently flicking the lens barrel a few times. Again, see the link.

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use Nikon Transfer or any other photo cataloging program.

once out of the camera & deleted form the card, the camera will not display any of the images because it does not have that function. even jpeg images being the same format cannot be viewed.

check the lens the lens might be closed if are open and hold for 5 seconds if it doesnt work take it to a specialist

Are you still using alkaline batteries? If so, alkaline batteries just don't have the power for more than a few pictures in a digital camera. Some may also have reached their shelf life, and though right out of the package may even have problems just powering startup of the camera. Digital cameras that use AA's for the most part should only be used with rechargeable NiMH batteries. If you read the camera's instruction manual concerning batteries, you may see the same recommendation.
Keep in mind rechargeable batteries will save you money in the long run over alkalines, AND they'll last for at least 100 pictures per charge (and probably many many more). You'll be very pleased with their performance, and may be angry with yourself for not buying them sooner. When at the store, look on the package for a power rating of at least 2500 mah.

Hi,
This happens when the camera is in the ON state and the battery power drains out completely. Please recharge the batteries or insert charged batteries and the lens would get closed automatically.
Please let me know if that works.

turn off ur bb mobile by disconnection the battery from mobile phone and put the battery after 1 min and start the hand set

my camera will not turn on or off lense stuck open put new batteries still nothing my daughter took picture with it everything went blank its the samsung s630 worked fine till today!!
