What is the Maximum graphics memory supported on the Asus PTGD1-LA Motherboard, Or specifically on The Hp pavilion a767c desktop? Right now my a767c desktop has an Ati-radeon x300 SE 128mb ddr 64-bit...

Hi,

Thanks for asking FixYa for help. My name is Jeff and I will be assisting you today. You didn't specify your operating system, which is a critical component. With a 32 bit operating system the total addressable theoretical memory limit is 4 MB. This includes system ram AND video ram. You should be fine with the 256MB card as it is pretty small. So, if you have a 32 bit system, anything over about 3.2 MB total is a waste.

If you are in need of additional help, please let us know.

Thank you for allowing us to help you today.

My presario 700 has a memory of 240mb, not quite sure, but can it be upgraded? up to what maximum ram?

hi,

yup your memory can still be upgraded up to its maximum supported RAM of 384 mb with a RAM technology SDRAM

note:
upgrading your RAM to that size doen't make major difference to its performance and you can't hardly notice it difference.

Adding computer memory

The only thing you could do is put in a 256MB module in the slot that you have access to. Only one socket is user upgradable. The second socket is only upgradable by a Dell service center. They would have to install a second 256 module to get you to the 512MB max.

NEED A STEP BY STEP GUIDE ON UPGRADING

Upgrading the computer to the faster CPU, memory, hard disk, can be possible. First find out the motherboard supports higher CPU already , then find the right CPU for the upgrade,. Maximum memory that can be added in the comuter and type of memory supported by the motherboard. If you need more capacity for Hard disk get high capacity harddisk that the computer support. More important is make sure that the upgrade doesn't require to buy new operating system. Most upgrades are not cheper than purchasing new system considering all above needs. If you require to upgrade to more and latest system than it is better to buy a new system including operating system. The operating system may not support considerable difference in the computer system for upgrades.

Looking at the manual for this motherboard your maximum ram is 512mb in two sticks of 256mb each. Speed rating is pc133 (maximum). You may struggle with the external hard drive as you only seem to have usb 1.1 and not usb 2.0
