Trouble viewing images

I have a Sony Cyber-**** 7.2 mega pixels camera. The folder on my camera says I took 101 pictures but only 71 will load. Whenever I try to view the 30 pictures on the camera, the screen reads "File Error". There are still place holders for the other 30 on my picasa program, but they just come up grey. How do I recover the photos (and some videos too)

You may try some photo recovery software to rescue the pictures also videos, here are some for your option.
Photo Recovery (for Windows)
Photo Recovery for Mac

Both programs can also recover video and music. Note: Before your files are recovered, do not attempt to save more files to the memory stick in case the original files(your pictures) are overwritten.

Skip using the camera for downloading and use a card reader instead. A lot of troubles will be eliminated.
A card reader is not expensive.
A card reader can be found in most electronic stores or on a site such as Ebay.

I have a Sony Cyper-shot 6.o Mega Pixels camera (given to me with no manual) I've got the cord to connect camera to PC. I cannot figure out how to load the pictures from the camera onto my e-mail account.

The mamory card in the camera will show up as a "Removable Disk" on your computer.

1. Go to "My Computer". The camera will probably be Drive E.
2. Click on Drive E (or whatever the "removable disk" is) and open (click) any folders that show up. The pictures will be several folders down.
3. You can then copy these to your "My Pictures" folder in "My Documents" or "browse" to that drive when you want to attach a picture to your email

Hope this helps!

Sony cyber shot 7.2 Carl Zeiss transfer pics on memory card

No.
Take the memory stick out of the camera then connect to the computer. You can then transfer the pictures from the camera to the computer.
Alternatively, use the camera's copy command to copy the pictures from the internal memory to the memory stick.

MY CAMERA TAKES PHOTOS THAT APPEARS SHARP ON THE LCD BUT BLURRED AND DISFOCUSED AFTER DOWNLOAD.....

Your LCD is only a small preview screen. I have on many occasions tested a camera and viewed on the screen. When you view the image on a computer it is enlarged to a much larger image. If your pictures appear out of focus you may have a bad lens. Set your camera to the highest mega pixel rate and retake some test images. If these are blurred you have a bad lens.

SONY Cyber-shot 3.2 mega pixels

Try to right click on the image files while they are read on the memory card or on the camera hard-wired to your computer. Click on copy then click on your desktop of your computer to paste them. They may just be creating short-cuts rather than placing the file onto your computer.

I have a sony cyber shot DSC-S700 camera, I can take photos but when I want to download them on my pc there is no photos there to view but I still can view them on the camera itself

Pictures are saved into folders on the camera - 101, 102, 103, etc. When accessing the camera from the computer, be sure you are looking in the folder on the camera where the pictures are.

Can't get pictures on computer from camera

Firstly, you should provide the model number of the camera, it will be printed on the base of the camera and will look something like DSC-XXX. This will help to pinpoint issues.

In your case however, it seems that your issue is a Windows one rather than a camera issue.

There are two ways that you can access your images. The first is to install the software that was supplied with your camera (probably Picture Motion Browser.) The second way is by using the Microsoft Windows explorer (I'm assuming that you're using Windows 2000, XP or Vista - the steps should be very similar for all, but I use XP so there may be small differences)

I'll quickly give you a guide to get your images through Windows.
1. Connect your USB cable to your camera and to your computer.
2. The Camera should indicate "USB MODE"
3. In Windows, click on <Start>, and then <My Computer>
4. In the "My Computer" window, you should see icons representing the various hard drives, optical drives etc. that are connected to you computer. Amongst them will be one named either "Memory Stick", "Removable Disk" or "Sony Cyber-shot". Click on this icon.
5. If you've selected the correct one you'll see a Window with the following folder in it :"DCIM"
6. Click on <DCIM> and you'll see another folder named something like "xxxMSDCF" where the first three characters are numbers, usually this will be "100" or "101". Click on this folder and you'll see the various pictures that are on your Memory Stick.
7. You can then drag & drop these pictures onto a folder on your computer's hard drive and delete them from the Memory Stick if you wish.
