Why is this not cooling

We purchased an idylis air conditioner and though it has been running all day our temp in the one room office is 90 degrees. Are we missing a button or a switch that would make this work like an air conditioner? Our office is 12 by 12 so this unit is supposed to be adequate for this size.

Is it a portable a/c unit? Is it vented properly- out a window? Does it shut off if the drip pan is full of water?
I have a different brand portable a/c unit and find that while they say it can cool a room, I don't think it will work well on its own- a window unit would be better. I use mine in a bedroom to cool a little more than my central unit.
These units need to exhaust hot air outside the room it's trying to cool. Some will shut off if the internal drip pan fills with condensation to avoid water spilling and damaging floors.
I don't use the "auto" mode on mine, just set the temp and make sure the compressor on in manual.

Maybe, the compressor isn't starting? I'd take it back to where you purchased it.

SOURCE: air conditioning unit not cooling

the problem sounds like a defective capacitor its located on the condensing unit outside, also a contactor that is used can be defective also.

SOURCE: I have a GE air conditioner with ditigal panel. I

Wash out outside coil from time to time. This is the most over looked part of window units. Take care not to spray water directly into fan motor. If not real humid in house check temp coming out of ac inside and make sure filter and coil are clean. run on high speed and the air should have good force. 20 to 30 degree temp drop of room temp should be about right. Much depend on outside temp and humidity and indoor humidity plus insulation factor of area. How many people are in the area and if you keep unit on day and night .

SOURCE: Air conditioner constantly running, not cooling house

Ours was worse than yours. It was not frozen up, but it did need freon. The tech told us that the compressor coil (the unit in the attic) was leaking freon and that the unit would have to be replaced within a year, but adding freon dropped the temperature inside from the mid-80s to the mid-70s (on 100 degree days). It might go lower, but we don't set the thermostats below 76. We paid $80 for the service call plus another $197 for 3 lbs of freon (for our 4-ton unit). Total cost: $274. The quote to replace the system with a new 14 SEER unit is $7,000 -- but this will get us through the summer. Oh, be sure to replace your filters monthly and keep your condensor fins clean. Spray them down with a hose (even while the unit is running), make sure there are no leaves or other trash blocking them, and make sure you have 2 feet of clearance around the condensor. Putting plants or other objects right up against it will impede its operation. Good luck!

make sure the system switch is in the cool position, then press run program button and allow a couple of minutes for system to cycle on, if it doesn't come on press the button for lowering the set point, set it to 72 degrees and then press the hold temperature key.

My frigidaire a/c is set 73fhrenheit after running for a time the temp. on the unite drops to 60 degrees by it self what is the problem ?

AC units, no matter if they are big/small, window or big central units. They will only cool the air in the room, or home, to about 15 degrees cooler than the outside air temperature. If you live in Georgia and it is 100?F+ outside, you will be lucky if the unit will reach 80?F even running all day.
tip

Too cool or over cool in room

Indoor sensor to sense the room temp and must cut off the compressor by working. If sensor defective, compressor will continuously running resulting to over cool in room. And also 23 C degree setting temp is best cooling for office and bed rooms. If for peculiar instrument which should be kept under low temp, can be set as mentioned temp (say 18 C or 16 C )<br />

I have a Goodman CKL24-1k air conditioner. I live in a townhouse in Louisiana on the 2nd and 3rd floors. I set the temperature to about 73 degrees during the day so I can sleep bc I work the graveyard...

I lost you at my the end but the 2 ton unit should be able to cool 960 sqft. Sounds like a refrigerant problem. Air conditioners should cool the air 15 to 20 degrees. This means 80 degrees going into the machine in the return should be 60 to 65 degrees coming out in the supply. If you are in that range than it's likely never going to cool the space.

The thermostate now reads 112 degrees and will not go below 97 this causes the cooling unit to stay on at all times even though the true room temp is 71 degrees. What is wrong with this thing? It appears...

Hello,Locate and move the thremostat sensor(bulb) to a different location as it is near something on the unit that is 112*f.It needs to sample return/intake air temp.

I have an LG AC and the lowest temperature setting is 60 degrees

Lowering the temperature setting doesn't change the temperature of the air coming out of the unit it just lets it run until the room temperature gets colder. Check the temp of the air coming out of the unit. If it isn't as cold as it used to be the charge could be low. First though you should make sure the filters are clean and the coils. You should also check the actual room temp. It's also possible the unit doesn't have enough capacity to keep up with the cooling load of the room.

Rheem Criterion II air conditioner runs but it does not cool

Check air temp out vent should be approx 20 degrees colder than room temp if it is your unit is too small for the amount of space you are cooling.Rule of thumb 1 ton(12,000btu's) for every 400 sq ft of uninsulated space
