There is a chance that your motorola W220 may be locked with the network carrier from whom you got the mobile... to make this sure try re-inserting the SIM again and also check with SIM of another network carrier if the error persists then your mobile must be locked... to unlock your mobile you can try for unlocking code at OnlineGSMUnlock.com to get your mobile unlocked... gud luck..

Sim card in . but comming up insert sim
If it still showing insert sim, you can get a rubber eraser and erase the sim's chip. Also rub eraser on the part of the phone where sim is inserted.

Try to insert other sim cards if it is showing the same error. If yes, then you need to clean that part of the phone where sim is inserted. Try the rubber eraser technique. If it does not work, have a soft earbud cotton and dip in alcohol then gently rub it on that part.

Showing insert sim even if sim is inserted
the problem can be either of two
  1. your SIM has damaged maybe the golden strip behind SIM has got in contact with any magnetic material or scratched.
  2. your phones SIM reader has become unusable get it repaired at very low cost.
