Take the memory card out. on the cartridge gently blow on the end you plug into the wii and slot A on the wii if you have a game cube test to see if it works on the game cube insert the card in slot B

The Nintendo Wii already comes with everything needed to play GameCube. GameCube disks are loaded and unloaded from the system in the same way that Wii game disks are used. To play the games you are going to need a GameCube controller and a GameCube memory card to save progress. On the top of the system (if the system is vertical) or on the side (if it is laying down) are two flaps, one which opens to reveal the controller ports and the other reveals the slots for the memory cards. To play GameCube, simply select the top left square from the main menu (like you would for any Wii game), select start, and then use the GameCube controller to play the game.
If you want to rip, or back up, games for your Nintendo Wii, it's not going to be easy. Nintendo Wii and Gamecube disks both spin in the opposite direction from normal disks to prevent them from being ripped. But there is a way to get around this by ripping the game directly from the Wii onto an SD card.
Step 1
Make sure your Wii is modified with a Wiikey. Without one, you will not be able to rip games for it. You can have Wiikey installed for you, or install it yourself.
Step 2
Plug in the Gecko adapter and SD card into your Wii's Gamecube memory card slot. It will then ask you to load a disk.
Step 3
Load whatever Wii or Gamecube game you want to rip. It will save the files on the SD card, but the card is too small to fit the whole game. Once it has dumped all the information it can hold, you must remove the SD card and put the files on your computer. Erase the card and put it back in the memory card slot and continue copying the game's information. For a Wii game you will have to do this three times.
Step 4
Once you have the entire game on your computer, they will be in usually three separate pieces. Combine them into one file.
Step 5
Burn the game file onto a 4.7 GB DVD disk and play it on your Wii. Due to the Wii's protection software, only modified Wii's can play ripped Wii games.
Assuming the Wii unit is situated vertically, look on the top of the unit. There should be two flaps. Lift them, and you will find plugs for four GameCube controllers and two GameCube memory cards. Plug in the controllers and go.
Bare in mind that only a very small number of Wii games actually use GameCube controllers. The controller slots are primarily for playing GameCube games on the Wii, which the Wii can do right out of the box, provided you have the controllers and memory cards.

Gather up any GameCube controllers that you want to use with your Wii.

Open up the top of your Wii. If you unhook the latch on the
very top of the system there should be a sort of secret compartment that
holds four controller ports and two memory card slots.

Plug your GameCube controller into the ports located in the
top of the Wii. If you're plugging in more than one, don't worry about
attaching them in any particular order.

Load any GameCube memory cards that you would like to use
into the memory card slots located next to the controller ports on top
of the Wii.

Feed the GameCube game you would like to play into the disc slot on the Wii
Are you talking about the controller or memory card?? If the controller try plugging it into the second gamecube controller slot even if you are wanting it for player one. This is the only way I have been able to get it to work.
It might be talking about the GameCube memory card slots, not the SD card slots. There should be a door on the top/left side of the WII. See if it's talking abou that.
