Is your Tilde key functioning? ie it could be a dirty or stuck switch.

To test the key, open a Word document and try typing the Tilde. If it shows on the screen then your keyboard is OK, if not then the key is dirty or stuck and you will probably need a new keyboard.

If the key is working, then . . . . I dunno.
