Sound goes on and off while watching programmes every so often

This sounds like you have the device on a wrong sound setting. Check the sound settings. For example Dolby sound needs special settings.

How do I go about purchasing new speaker cords for a v 5.1 home theater system?

Is THAT the model number? It surely ISN'T the audio power output.

Anyway, figure out what the model number really is and Google it with "cable" or search eBay plus check the 'include description' box.

This might be one...

Just got Panasonic Home Theater and using Digital Audio cable along with HDMI cable. Cables are coneccted and when I do a speaker test all work fine. When I play my Wii the sound is coming out the Tv not...

What kind of TV do you have?
I have found one of the easiest ways to connect surround system is to connect all your accessories (ie. Wii, Cable Box, VCR, etc) to the TV.

Next find the AUDIO OUT on the TV and connect this to the TV or AUX input on the home theater.

Tune the Home theater to the Input that you connected the TV to. This should play the audio through the home theater for any input you tune the TV to.

Note: make sure to turn the TV volume all the way down otherwise there will be some distortion due to the delay between the TV and the home theater.

Good Luck,
Robert

I bought a panasonic home theater (open box). the only problem was that it was missing the speaker cables. panasonic wants $166 for the cables! any place elst that would have them or the plastic...

According to the manual the speaker cables are as follows...

1 Speaker cable (center)

[REEX0858-L (green)]
2 Speaker cables (surround)

[REEX0860E-L (blue)]
[REEX0868E-L (gray)]

2 Speaker cables (surround back)

[REE1488 (brown)]
[REE1489 (tan)]

The only things that makes them unique are the unique molded connectors. Hardly $166 worth. You could buy a 100' roll of 18-gauge speaker wire or lamp cord and 5 molex connectors at Radio Shack for a lot less.

If you took the base unit in I'm sure they could help you find a compatible connector and pins.

How to connect the speakers to the sb-wa342 panasonic subwoofer

I hope I understand you correctly.

As you can probably tell from the very different connector types on the subwoofer and the HTS, they don't match up. That speaker system and this electronics are not meant to be used together.

The SC-BT200 uses passive subwoofer while the SB-WA342 is an active (powered) subwoofer.
