Switching surround sound modes with remote control.

Please always include full 'make model (what it is)' as first 3 words in every question.

It sounds like the batteries are depleting. Normally if removing them and putting them back in a different order fixes the issue, they are at the threshold of having enough energy.

Model DV1531. Why is there no surround audio?

There is a decoding chip for surround sound. If it goes bad all you get is stereo. Happened to me with my Pioneer receiver.

RCA Stav-3880 turn stereo on goes to full volumn

Take the batteries out of the remote control, then apply a piece of black tape over the IR sensor, Unplug the power, wait a few minutes, now power the unit back up, does the unit still have the same volume high symptom? If so, remove the tape and see if the unit responds to any other commands(other than volume) from the front panel. If it responds to the panel controls, the processor is most likely good. very seldom is the IR transistor bad, if it is no input command will work.

Surround sound unit turns off right after I turn the system on and can not get it to stay on !!! I left for vacation came back and now the unit will not come on for more than 4-6 seconds ! My friend said...

Hi Ninh,
I had a similar problem with my stereo receiver not long ago. The problem ended up being a short in one of the speakers. If your speakers are powered separately from the receiver, it might be that one of them was damaged due to the storm. The short would cause the amplifier to shut down as soon as the speakers are turned on.

The easiest way to check this is to disconnect all the speakers, turn the surround sound on and then reconnect them one at a time to find which speaker is causing the problem.

Hope that helps.

How do I hook up my surround sound system thru my stereo and tv

connecting your surround sound system is not complicated.things you may need:OLDER STEREO SURROUND SOUND:analog red, white, and yellow cable connectorsHDMIaudio fiber opticsif you bought your stuff new from electronics store, then it would be easier.all you need is HDMI cables (mostly)depending where your inputs and outputs go, you must know the rule. OUT-TO-IN. that means if you are using a cable box, dvd, bluray, playstation, or xbox. everything in these electronic devices are OUT. then connect them to the IN ports of your surround sound. at the back of your surround sound there will be connections saying IN-dvd, IN-dvr etc. connect your OUT DEVICES.
NOTE: YOU MUST KNOW WHAT ARE YOUR CONNECTIONS, LIKE DVD-IN OR DVR-IN CU'Z YOU WILL USE YOUR REMOTE TO CHOSE WHICH CONNECTIONS YOU WANT TO USE.
now from your surround sound to your tv.the same ruleout to in of your tv. You should look for HDMI port that is saying OUT. you will connect your HDMI cable from there connecting to your IN of your tv. remember which port you plugged the HDMI cable as you will switch to that particular input. it will say at the back of your tv in-1, in-2, in-3 or as much as the manufacturer want to have in there product.
connecting your speakers.you must remember the color code.if you chose red as positive, all the red wire must be positive.colour may be different but same idea. if you have sub-woofer it will be an analog cable you will only use single cable. At the back of your surround sound there's a connection saying sub-woofer out.
now selecting your inputs.turn on your tv and stereo.newer tvs and stereos are smart they can configure there system which is turned on.
anyways if you will do it manually, you must select from the remote what is the connected input. (input 1, input 2 etc.) if you found the right input, do the players (dvr, cable box, dvd, bluray, playstation, xbox etc) turn them all on and select from your stereo remote control.note all the inputs you selected.

Sound only from left front and right front speakers possibly my projection screen tv is only 2.1 channel does this mean i cannot have surround

surround receivers are supposed to be able to turn a stereo signal into a surround signal.  if the surround unit is producing just a stereo sound, then the tv is most likely outputting in mono, and not stereo; or there is no surround sound to decode..

Just bought a Philips home theatre system HTS3544 low sound?

You may also need to change the speaker set up. Go to DISC setting (one of the top selections on the remote) make sure you have no Disc in the DVD player. When in this mode press setup on the remote. On this menu you will have a option to adjust the speaker volume.

I had to increase my speaker volumes to get better sound. This setting is not accessible if you try to do the set up in other than DISC setting. Be sure to check the SURROUND setting. The SURROUND button on the remote will toggle between stereo and surround as stated in a previous post.

Rear speakers no sound

you have to have it set to one of the sound settings to get surround sound , and if what you have hooked up does not have a digital connection ( optical or coax) you can not get dolby digital surround either
if it is the stereo your listening to then set a sound to get virtual surround sound ( unless you have a digital tuner that supports digital signal input
