The display screen has blacked out completely and photos clicked are also turning out to be a blank (black) screen. All functional icons are visible on the screen.
Is it a technical fault in the camera (malfuntion) or has some setting gone wrong?
CCD Failure !!! dont worry they will do it free of charge i am pretty sure see the link if ur camera model is not incl in the list and even if u are out of warranty they will do it free of charge just call them in ur region and they will do it free of charge it is a manufacturing fault in some CCD chips

I have a similar problem with my Canon S3 IS. Dark/black LCD inShooting mode. However, I can view my existing photos in Display mode.I was about to spend money to get a Panasonic TZ5. Somehow I bumpedinto a solution post for S2 IS. Here is the link:

I tried their solutions twice and it WORKS. My S3 is working fine now.

Screen display has blacked out but all icons are functional. It now wont let me take a picture. It acts like the lens cap is on or somthing. Did I push a button I shouldnt have or is there a malfunction?
Everything is functional but it won't let you use the viewfinder or the lcd display to take pictures. It acts as if the lens cap in on.
both veiw finder and screen are black and pics come out black?? Power is on and can see all the functions but cant take pics
No image seen thru viewfinder. Photos are recorded but are completely black.
