How do I change the rubber baffle that prevents

Full user manual for this here. Cleaning it etc.
Don't think you would destroy the seal if you are careful. Sure you could get a spare if you did from their answerline at top of manual.

First, unplug the power cord to the "Sink aerator" disposal from under the sink storage area. Next, remove the black rubber strainer from the upper sink area leading down into the disposal. (It simply pulls upward to remove) This will allow you to put your hand down into the disposal area to physically clean out the disposal deposits by hand. Pull out whatever is plugging the disposal and throw the debris in the trash, not back into the disposal. Once everything is removed from inside the disposal, flush it out completely with water from the faucet until it drains freely. Reassemble the black rubber strainer and plug in the disposal once clean. Be sure not to put potatoe peelings and other non-disposable items which can't be ground up easily in the garbage disposal. Keep in mind, just because it says garbage disposal, it doesn't mean all "garbage." Also, always use plenty of water when using the disposal and allow the water to run for a minute or so afterwards to finish washing down the debris in the sink "P" trap drain out through the outer sewer line.

It would appear there is a blockage (a clog) in the disposal. You might try "FIRST" unplugging the disposal from under the sink. Put a piece of masking tape over the switch to secure it in the "OFF" position. Then remove the black rubber strainer from sink leading down into the disposal. (just pull it out by hand) Clean out all debris by hand. Put the removed debris in the trash can. Run hot water down into the disposal assuring it to drain properly. Do not put items into the disposal which cannot be ground up easily such as potato peelings and meat products.

If you need new sink strainer basket for disposal side of sink, you have to buy new disposal.

Each garbage disposal comes with its own strainer basket so that disposal can connect and seal.

First, the disposal strainer basket is installed, and then disposal lifts up and attaches from below.
A rubber gasket comes with new disposal.
Rubber gasket fits between disposal and strainer basket so that disposal seals correctly.

Photo below shows how disposal connects to strainer basket using steel connector ring under the sink.

Find out exactly where leak is coming from.
You say water is coming from the side... is that where the pipe connects? Then take apart pipe and reassemble pipe using instructions below, and use rectorseal on joints as described below..
Is water coming from where dishwasher connects to disposal? Then tighten the clamp.
Is water coming from top where disposal connects to sink? Run paper towel around top to check for moisture, and then use steps below to dissemble disposal and re-install same disposal.
Is water coming from a rusted hole in disposal. Then replace disposal using steps below:

Here are the disposal steps:
When I worked apartment maintenance, we replaced disposal with same brand disposal.
That way we didn't have to change out sink basket or change pipes.
How to: Disconnect p-trap and tailpiece going into disposal.
Rotate connector disk clockwise that holds disposal to sink basket.
Before installing new disposal.
Attach electric wire to new disposal.
Attach dishwasher tube to new disposal. Knock out plug inside dishwasher opening.
Push new disposal up into place, and attach to old sink basket with new connector disk.
Use new connector washer.
Re-assemble tubular pipe.



If this is your home, you want new sink basket that comes with new disposal because it looks shiny and new.
Buy a tub of plumbers putty also.
Remove old sink basket and clean opening.
Put finger-size roll of plumbers putty around sink opening, and then push new strainer basket into plumbers putty.
Tighten basket from below, wipe away excess putty around sink opening.
Install new disposal as described above.



Tips for tubular pipes:
When taking apart tubular pipes, start at p-trap and take apart as few pieces as needed to do job.
On image below, loosen both upper and lower nuts, trap falls loose, and then work on disposal.
Any tubular drain pipe that gets moved while working under sink needs to be disassembled, cleaned and re-assembled.
Metal pipes have rubber washer >> always use new rubber washers.
Plastic pipes have plastic washers > plastic washers can be cleaned and re-used.
Plastic washers have flat side that goes toward nut, tapered side away from nut.



When reassembling tubular pipe, we use rectorseal on washers and joints.
Apply good amount on washer just before pushing washer in place and attaching nut.
Rectorseal will ensure tubular drain pipes won't leak.

If you can not see any "obvious" holes in the body of the ISE, the connections to the sink or the drain connection(s) are suspect. Take a flashlight and look the ISE over good, paying special attention where the drain pipe is connected. If you see any signs of water, tighten the connections but be sure NOT to cause the ISE to be pulled to the side, it must hang straight down from the sink. Also check the basket that is fastened to the sink as well as the heavy metal ring washer that suspends the ISE below the sink. If you see signs of leaking water, you may have to change the washers.

One of your connections is either broken or missing a rubber gasket or a hose clamp. You have a lock ring on the top that basically bolts to the drain of the sink which is part of the disposal, IT has a rubber gasket or two on it, some have plumbers putty on the very top, the hose that goes from the dishwasher, if you have one, has a hose clamp on it, the drain line into the trap is a compression fit, needs to be tight, and it is usually bolted or screwed into the disposal itself with a rubber gasket. Check these out and tighten them up. Hope this helps.
