Will it not accept any dics? If so then I would recommend a DVD lens cleaner disc. Usually not more then 9.99.

wrong playback system selection in bouth of tv and DVD player.
please slect auto mode bouth of . and try again.

i think power amp or power supply board problem.if you are not the technician dont do anything.one thing remoove the all speaker wires and try to turn on agin.

SOURCE: On Sony DAV-C770 Dvd disks are stuck in machine.

This is a repairable assembly. It needs realigment. I have realigned many of these units with no problem as long as theres no broken plastic parts. What ever you do dont force anything.Yes there is a video input jack that can be used for hookup

Our Sony c 770 no longer plays DVDs or Cds but it still works as a receiver. Can we connect a DVD player to it and have it come thru the 5.1 speaker system?

Yes, tis unit has 2 video inputs at rear so you can connect any other dvd player sound (analog or digital) to get 5.1 channel surround sound from DAV-C770 speakers.

There is a high pitched whine when using the satellite TV receiver as the input for sound.
I also have this problem. Reading about other sony dream systems seems to be a bad capacitor that block EMF or something. Capacitor needs to be replaced. Don't know what one though. Have to take it in.

Sony Dav-C770 blinking standby light product will not function
I had the same problem, red blinking light after owning for several years. I decided to replace the capacitor at C914 to see if it would work, and it did. Apparently that capacitor is prone to failure. Since this seems to be a common problem, I created a web page detailing the repair. Hope it is helpful. Repair cost $1.39 + tax.

Blinking standby light system will not turn on
I was having a similar problem and determined that there was a short in the speaker leads for the center channel speaker. The leads to the speaker were touching, after being moved, slightly while housecleaning. Once short was eliminated, unit powered on and worked with no problem.
