I am using my Pavilion notebook as a DVR by making use of the TV tuner card provided along with Windows Media Center. Lately, I've had occasions on which the computer starts at the time prescribed by Windows Media Center (I've had I on "hibernate" leading up to this but the TV tuner card doesn't turn on. This doesn't happen all of the time and I haven't been able to detect any commonalities in the times it fails to work. Does anyone know why this is sometimes happening and what I can do about it?
Intermittent problems can be difficult to nail down.
See if anything is failing in Event Viewer.
Click Start > go to My Computer , right click on it , go to Manage. Expand Event viewer and click on Applications.
These are sorted chronologically so look to see if there are any red ! around the time it is supposed to be recording.
If a particular app is failing to load or crashing, you can reinstall it and see if that does anything.
If not you can use a program to manually wake up the PC and execute the program. This is freeware program I found that has alot of options in it.

The are no entries with a red ! anywhere near the time of the failures. The computer successfully wakes from hibernate by the timer in Windows Media Center (the computer wakes up on time but the TV tuner card doesn't switch-on - which is something that I believe should be commanded by Media Center). As a result, I don't think adding another piece of software will do the trick.
