First you need to be using Internet explorer as your browser as it does not support anything else.
Second, temporarly reduce your security settings in the browser. You may need to manually customize the setting rather than using the preset slider bar. Low/Medium/High etc.
The software is trying to install itself using active x but I believe the software is unsigned and will not install unless you reduce the security settings in the browser accordingly.
You will need to click the custom section, then find the box that says "download UNSIGNED activeX controls and chose the "PROMPT" setting. Hit apply, ok then restart the browser and try to log in to the DVR again.
Once the software installs on the machine and you are able to log in, reset the security setting back to the default levels. (THIS IS IMPORTANT)
DONT LEAVE THAT SETTING OR YOU MAY BE EXTREMELY VULNERABLE TO VIRUS, BROWSER ****** and TROJANS!!!!!!
I had exactly this issue and managed to resolve it by changing my monitor (i know, it sounds weird but i tried everything else).
My specific situation is that i am viewing the cameras across a Vmware View connection (essentially, fancy remote desktop). I think that the issue is somehow related to a DirectX / DirectDraw component not working correctly but i couldn't swear to it.The "fix" (i believe) cam when Windows 7 could readily identify the monitors by their model number rather than a "Generic Non-Plug & Play Monitor" like the original monitors were (I swapped out some old Dell 18" screens for sme shiny new Dell 22" ones).
Go to: Controlpanel -> Internet Options -> Security (tab)... Chose ''internet'' and press the ''Costum levle'' button.. Set alle ''active X controls to ''(not secure)'' and press ok, and apply.. UNDO THESE SETTING ONES U HAVE INSTALLED THE ACTIVE X ADDON, FOR YOUR ONE SAFTY!
Try removing the plugin and reinstall if it is there. It is possible the plugin did not install properly or it was blocked by security settings. You may have to lower security settings temporarily while you install and may have to enable active x settings.
