Led display assembly cables do not match my mac

Try eBay - first look up what display socket you have and know what you are going into and then hit the ebay search.
Apple change their sockets and you'll have to check which you have.

Your Macbook should automaticaly find the best resolution, if everything was OK. Is there any HDMI input on the dell projector? What projector is it? Is there is an HDMI input, you can use a HDMI to mini DVI cable: better picture and sound than VGA, and will probably solve your problem
