I have a sony walkman NWZ-W252 the only number i can find is the serial number 5052051 and it is not being recognized by my computer when i try to install it it says its corrupt

the simple solution is to buy a new one you can buy them from amazon they are about .49p

When you mean "How to open", do you mean How do you open the player on your computer? If that's the case, if you have a Windows based Operating System, you should be able to just to to "My Computer". then once you have connected the mp3 player to the PC, the mp3 player will show up as an extra storage Hard Drive logo on screen. Once that appears you can drag and drop MP3 music files onto the device.

Click Sony Support link and download Content Transfer Software after selecting OS in computer, install it in computer and attach nwz-w252 to transfer song files.

1. Install the Windows Media Player software version 11 included with the Walkman® MP3 player.
2. Connect your portable player to the computer and start the Windows Media player software.
3. In the Windows Media Player window, click the Sync button. NOTE: If this is the first time using your portable player with Windows Media Player, you will be prompted to name your device. Type a name for your device and then click Finish .
   
4. Your portable player will be represented in the right pane. Drag music files to the right pane.
5. After you have added all of the music files, click the Start Sync button. The song files in the Sync list will be transferred to your portable player.

It is not required to install any Driver for connecting the Walkman Player to the Computer. The Driver for recognizing the Walkman Player as a MTP Device is already installed in the Computer. You can install the supplied Windows Media Player 11 Software for transferring the files to the Player. You can either Drag and Drop the files using the Windows Explorer to the MUSIC Folder which appears as a Removable Drive or can use the Windows Media Player 11 for transferring. If the Player is not recognized by the Computer, try connecting to different USB ports and try re-installing the USB Driver from the Device Manager.

I had the same problem. I had not had any problems for months and suddenly it wouldn't connect. I got on live chat w/ Sony (3 times) and finally got someone who seemed to know what they were doing. I have a Sony computer and they had to send me a link for a USB "patch". After downloading it, it fixed it.

I had the same problem. Don't buy a new cord. There is a sony place in winnipeg you can get it fixed there.

okay, try plugging it in. Go to Startmenu, right click 'My computer', and select properties. Go to the 'Hardware' tab, then Device manager. Down at the bottom, you should see a section of the tree that can be expanded, entitled 'Universal Serial Bus Controllers' Find the Unknown device part. Select that, then go to 'Action','Uninstall'. After un-installation, the computer might restart. Unplug your walkman. When windows is back up, plug it in, and see if that works. if not, I have an alternative solution
