My bottom freezer LG is intermittently shutting down and thawing everything in the freezer (cooling stops in fridge part, too). $3,500 for a refrigerator that works only 18 months.

I had the same trouble. I found out if you have the digital display of temperature type of refrigerator adjust the freezer temperature to +5 degrees. The defrost systems uses a circuit board type. Not sure how it works. I took the back panel of and looked at the board. Did not see any manual defrost methods. I had to remove all the contents of the freezer and manually defrost. have not a problem since.

LG refrigerator Ice build up in the bottom freezer

Check the seal in the freezer, if it is leaking outside moisture can get in as well as cause things to defrost near the leak. Also make sure the contents aren't blocking the door to where the seal is leaking. If this is all OK then perhaps the fan units fan is not pulling the moisture out. It does tend to build up in most freezers a bit anyway. also

I have LG Bottom Freezer Refrigerator for 5 years. I noticed that yesterday that a funny motor sound came from the back of the refrigerator. When I open the refrigerator or freezer door, the sound would...

Hi,
The problem could be a bad bearing in the condenser or evaporator fans...more likely though is that the evaporator fan is hitting an ice build up on the coils...this can be caused by a bad defrost timer...
more closely check on the sound... you will find it....

a few drops of oil on the fan shafts just ahead of the motor will not hurt either...

Freezer won't maintain temperature any lower than 16-18

It appears that your refrigerator is missing defrost. It will be difficult for anyone to provide photos of your defrost heater. I recommend that you unplug long enough to allow defrost to begin manually so we can get freezer door open and remove frozen goods long enough to place somewhere safe until we examine the defrost heater and defrost thermostat. At this point the only pictures will be the ones you email me. This appears to be a new breed of Profile from GE. If you would like to attempt this please let me know. The defrost heater is part number WR50X10043 but that means nothing until we do some testing, Let me Know, Sea Breeze

LG LFC25760 not working

This error appears when the fridge goes into defrost mode (after a few hours of initial startup and therefore a sign that your PCB is probably just fine). Look into the thermostor in the freezer compartment (mine was bad, a $2 part from Radio Shack), the defrost heating element or the temperature sensor in the freezer compartment.

Freezer not cold enough

How is the other products in the freezer. Some ice cream doesn't get too hard and it is because of the ingridients. I can't remember now, think it is the sugar content. If your ice cubes are solid you should be ok.

Defrost problem on a LG Bottom Freezer Refrigerator

You have a problem in the automatic defrost circuit. I suppose you know that !
You may have to disconnect the power from your refrigerator and use hot water in a pot or a hair drier to melt the ice away. You'll have to remove the back cover of the freezer and clear the ice from there too. You most likely have an open defrost heater and/or defrost thermostat.
If you have a tech sheet which is normally stored near the compressor section, you can trace the circuits and find your problem. If you're not comfortable with this kind of work , you'll need to call a tech to check it out for you. If you don't do something soon you'll lose all the food in both your refrigerator and freezer sections.
I hope this helps you
