Is the 'screw' more of a star shaped hole? I think Dremel use a TORX head screw. It is possibly a T15 size. The website below is for a plug in Dremel to change a bearing assembly but removing the cover on a cordless model is basically the same as this. Read the whole description BEFORE you start to make sure you don't damage anything by accident. https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Dremel+4000+Bearing+Assembly++Replacement/60834
3 in 1 is a light oil used the lubricate small joints, plates and bearings. It can also be used as a releasing oil for stuck bolt etc. 3 in 1 is usually ok to use in small amounts to grease the bearing points on your Dremel.
If this is a Dremel or knock-off, it may have a phosphor-bronze sleeve shaft bearing, impregnated with graphite for lubrication,
These do wear out and must be occasionally replaced. it isn't difficult to do (on mine) and the sleeve bearing is (or was) not terribly costly.
Establish your model number you should probably read the thread on this here:
010-398 Fuser Lock Failure RAP
Description
The Fuser Fan failed.
Power OFF/ON
Procedure
Turn on the power.
Visually check the rotation of the Fuser Fan
Just a comment-Based on experience, I would go with BOTH their suggestions and order brushes and bearings.
That squeal is definitely the bearing; it is a sleeve bearing; RPMs too high for a ball bearing to last and the sleeve bearing has a solid lubricant cast into it.
Hello DNA, The part number for the Dremel rotary tool replacement wrench is #90962. You should be able to find them at any retailer that sells Dremel products, such as most hardware and warehouse stores.
Here is a link from the Dremel site that will let you find a local retailer that carries the Dremel tools and accesories.
You can also call Dremel directly and request a replacement if you're unable to find a local retailer that has the wrench in stock. You can reach Dremel at 1-800-437-3635 from 7 AM t0 6 PM CDT Monday thru Friday.
I hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!
You can either go to Dremel.com and type in your model number for replacement parts or call their toll free number at 1-800-437-3635 and get that information. Let me know if you need anything further
You can put new grease into that bearing without removing it by following the steps in this M.S. Paint drawing I made. After a bit of protest, mine started running a lot better.
