This sounds like a power regulator issue. Check the site www.TvRepairKits.com for a "shrinking and expanding" video kit for your model. It also fixes the random off/on when the tv is cold

SOURCE: TV shuts down

Remove the lamp assembly, There will be a screen on the top and bottom of the assy remove all dust from these screens. also check the tube at the top of of the lamp receptical this is an air cooling pathway. reassemble and fire it up. This worked for me and saved some serious coin judging from some of the other solutions I have seen (lamp and balast) ouch!!!

SOURCE: Projection TV keeps shutting down

I just took my Mitsubishi WS-65315 65" in to be repaired for the same problem and was told that it needed a new main circuit board part number 930b899005 as was told they wanted to charge me $1100.00. So I told them not to do the repair and picked up my tv and found that same part at Sears parts for only $225.00. Some of these TV repair places are theifs.

SOURCE: TV shuts itself off after a couple minutes of being on.

One must be very careful of the quality of the replacement lamp. Many of the cheap 'deals' on the web for replacement lamps are substandard. I always recommend that replacement bulbs be the original manufacturers bulb.

SOURCE: tv WONT STAY ON

When the power light comes on and then goes off perform the self check feature the model you indicated has:

On the front of the press and hold both the MENU and INPUT (DEVICE) BUTTONS both for at least 5 seconds and release both buttons.

The green power light should blink a two digit error code--most common is 2 blinks, a pause and 2 blinks.

Let me know what error code you find and I will tell you what it means.

If this information has helped you rate this solution as I do this here for free.

TV goes to green, sound stays on a few seconds then TV shuts off.

Sounds like you have a bad picture tube. More than likely the CRT could be shorted, which would cause the set to shut down.
My first advise would be to power up the set with an isolation transformer with the voltage about 60% approx. 72 Volts AC, and monitor what happens when you increase the voltage slowly.
If the set remains on at 60 -70 %, then when increased to 90 - 100% it shuts down, you have something drawing too much current ( which could be the CRT )

Tv shuts down after about 5 seconds

Sounds like the green CRT has a short. If you unplug the socket from the green CRT tube (the one in the middle) and power up the TV and it stays on then it will verify that you need a new green CRT.

Projection TV keeps shutting down

Good Day;

Sounds like you have a bad green picture tube that has failed. To check this out; remove front speaker grill, remove small panel, you will see three CRT's (pictue tubes) sticking down, remove the little board on the middle tube then restore power. If TV stays on more then likely the CRT is bad but not always the driver on board could also be bad, check voltages.

Good Luck, big IRISH.

Sony proj tv,sound, green pict few seconds then shuts down

could be three different things.

1. could be the crt itself as a tube with dfective phosphure wil do this

2. could be the vertical ic on the crt board

3. could be the focus pac.  located in front of tv with 6 adjustment knobs on it.
