Turntable out of Tune

I just installed my tdk turntable and I have an old florence record that I played but it is completely out of tune. I kept thinking it was because I couldn't adjust the counterweight correctly but I've tried it a million times and I think I actually did it right. It's warped in the background but is especially obvious during the end of each song. Is it that my turntable is defected? or the vinyl?

It will be the turntable speed not exact
quality turntables have bars all around the circumference and when the speed is correct under a fluro light those bars will appear as stationary or using a strobe light set at 50 or 60 cycles a sec
bars going anticlockwise are too fast and moving forward are too slow
quality tables have a small knob or screw to adjust motor speed

How do I record from a turntable to the TDK 3826 recorder?

You need a pre amp in between the turntable and the recorder. The turntable does not have sufficient output to go directly into a recorder.

Teac turntable plays too fast

This sounds like a motor speed control problem. It could be either the motor itself or an electronic fault. So unless you know a bit about electronics and know how to use a soldering iron etc, then the answer to your question is no.

My stanton t50 turntable plays too fast even when the pitch fader is at the slowest speed

You need to calibrate your pitch control. This requires a small precision screwdriver (similar to something you would repair eye glasses with). If you look under the turntable where the pitch control is you will find 2 small holes, 1 marked 33 and 1 marked 45. Turn the turntable on and set the pitch control lever to zero pitch. While the turntable is spinning insert the screw driver into the pitch calibration hole under the turntable and twist the potentiometer back and forth until the turntable pitch is zero (I believe clockwise is faster, counterclockwise is slower as you look up from the bottom of the turntable). This is a fine tune adjustment and will not require much turning to adjust the speed (1 or 2 mm's) either way should start to bring you into zero pitch. The platter speed can be verified by the little dots on the rim of the platter. They should appear stationary in strobe light on the power switch when you are at zero pitch. When you are adjusting the speed you will observe the dots on the platter rim spinning clockwise and then counterclockwise as you adjust the fine tuning. Fine tune the speed until the dots appear stationary and you will be back to zero pitch. You have to adjust the turntable at both speeds 33 and 45 using the correct fine tuning hole under the turntable. My personal experience is it is easiest to do this with 2 people. 1 person to hold the turntable level and running, while the other adjusts the fine tuning. Hope this helps.

Adjust pitch on a Califone turntable.

This one is actually fastened from underneath (inside). You need to open the player up and you will see the usual C shaped fastener on a cleat near the motor assembly. Most old direct drive record players have a C pin around the spindle that you can unfasten (pry with a twist) with a screwdriver. Irealize you figured this out yourself, but I'll take the guess work out for someone else... yeah..l you gotta take it apart!

Techics sl-1210s m3 turntable spins back on itself

You have a fault on the quartz-lock speed control electronics. It may be a simple fix, it may be not.

It will require specialist investigation. A Technics dealer should be able to advise you, and arrange shipping back to Technics for repair if you decide that is the best thing to do.

Pitch out of Tune

That is a strange issue. Not sure what could be causing this. Are you describing your issue correctly. Or do the records sound warped? If they sound warped, check to make sure that your voltage setting is set correctly for your area (115V or 220V). This is a switch located underneath your turntable platter. Just make sure you power off your unit before making the switch.

If this is not the issue, then I have no clue what you are talking about, as I've never hear about this on a 1200 turntable, and I work on them for a living.

Please be even more specific, or if you can, give us a call here @ the shop, and maybe play a record for us. Perhaps we can walk you through it over the phone. 1.877.357.7677 ext 1
