SOURCE: error code 1606

To assist you requires knowing what software and if possible what version of the software you were installing. Some software is not compatible with Vista yet, some may never be and others already have made updates available -- part of the problem with your issue is determining where in that list of conditions your software falls. As well as possibly providing a link to a version of the software that claims to be installable on you machine.

You could also have the right software and an installation issue but that still requires knowing about the software that generated the error. If the message contained more than code 1606 the full text of the message would also be helpful.

SOURCE: Error Code 1606

Hi,

Hello fellow Corel Users:

After buying Corel X3 and getting that awful 1606 Error message,

I finally found my way to the Corel Update & Patches page and downloaded the patches and installed them.

Then finally, after 2 days of trying, I succeeded in getting Corel to Install:

Go to the address below and install Hot Patch Number 1.

http://tinyurl.com/5e37qv

or

http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satellite?c=Content_C1&cid=1153321224268&lc=en&pagename=CorelCom%2FLayout&pid=1151092456309

It is a 3 step process, first download it, then execute it, then reboot your PC and try the Corel Installation again.

Good Luck.

Live, Love, Laugh.

SOURCE: I am running Windows 7. When I try to install

well, the problem could be that because that most programs are not compatible with windows 7 yet. the best thing that i would do is wait until 10/22/09 for the actual realease of the product and reinstall it.

AutoCAD 2010 won't start after reinstall.

http://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/AutoCAD-2010-does-not-start.html

Issue:

When you try to start AutoCAD, you briefly see the splash screen and the program does not start.

Solution:

This behaviour can be caused by corrupted license information.
Please check if there are any errors listed in the ACD2010ENGAdlm.log file in the folder:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Autodesk\Adlm (Windows XP)
or
C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\ADLM (Windows Vista) (Please note the file name may be slightly different for localized product versions, for example for the German version the file name is ACD2010-DEUAdlm.log)
If the log file shows errors regarding the product information table file, for example "Unable to locate the Product Information Table File" or "Product Information Table file is not found", you will need to:
  1. Uninstall all installed 2010 products
  2. Delete the ADLM folder mentioned above, and
  3. Reinstall the products

Error1606

These are the fixes for that error that I am familiar with...The first one usually does it.

Click on “Start-Run, type “regedit” (without the quotes) Navigate to this registry path:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER --> Software --> Microsoft --> Windows --> Current Version --> Explorer --> User Shell Folders
Clear the key: Recent (right mouse click on the key/folder, choose “Delete”) Close the Registry Editor and restart the computer.
