It may not fit, some dual layer burners are made to fit a particular laptop.
You maybe lucky if it does fit.

If the PC board is a single layer board then you can remove the coating on the printed circuits either side on the crack and then solder a small piece of wire on the printed circuit tracks. This will bridge the printed circuits across the cracks.
If the PC board is a multi-layer board then it is impossible to repair and the PC board needs to be replaces if you can get one. It maybe cheaper to get a new amplifier.

The easiest way to tell is to open up "My Computer" and look at the drive. If it says "DVD-R," "DVR-RW," or maybe even "DVD+R," you have a DVD burner. If it says DVD-RAM, then it just reads DVD's.

You may be trying to load a dual layer DVD on a single layer or older dvd drive. That PC should run PCLinux perfectly.

It is impossible to repair cracked motherboards because these boards are multi-layer circuit boards and you cannot get to the printed circuit track in the inner layers of the board.

You can find the rest of your model number by searching the label under your machine. Then search the HP or Compaq site to find all your specs, updates etc.

I'd select the different levels of gray, and cut the color out of the picture, then paste it into a new document, using the exact same document and canvas sizes each time, so that you end up with three or four new documents, each with a different level of grey. If you're familiar enough with PS, you can do so by adding four new layers, and simply copy and paste the colors to four separate layers, and just hide all layers except the one you're printing currently. PS will ignore all layers that are invisible when printing. Click the 'eye' icon on each layer so that all of them are hidden except the one you want to print.
