The only real factor that comes near to Fruity Loops for Mac that is free is Auadicity. If something a little more advanced is wanted by you check out Adobe Audition or Professional Tools.

Audacity is free, open source software for editing and saving sounds.

SOURCE: My casio 496 cannot connect to fruity loops

Unfortunately your model of Casio only has midi in and not midi out. You will be able to use it as an external sound module but not to input notes into Fruity Loops. In other words midi out of your computer to midi in of the Casio with the proper settings will play your Fruity Loops sequences through the Casio.

Fruity Loops version 4 requires Windows up to version XP.

If you happen to have Vista on your PC, you should probably retrofit to XP as there are MANY compatibility problems with Vista and a lot of the special purpose software.

First thing is to COMPARE the PC requirements against what Fruity Loops says it requires.

SOURCE: fruity loops old version with casio keyboard

You haven't said whether or not you are using a demo ,version of FL. If you purchased they have Lifetime Free Updates here:http://flstudio.image-line.com/documents/lifetimefreeupdates.html If you didn't purchase, try downloading the newest demo version here:http://flstudio.image-line.com/documents/download.html Some features of demo programs become disabled after a certain time period. I don't know if midi device recognition is one of them for this program. Try hooking your keyboard up first, making sure that you have the correct drivers for the keyboard, your USB adapter etc. Then start FL and see if the program lists your keyboard in the midi device list.

SOURCE: Can I use it as controller for Fruity Loops? How?

You can use this keyboard via MIDI to send note on/off information to FriutyLoops. Use for control functions will be somewhat limited to voice change, velocity, and aftertouch.

Assuming you are running windows XP you need to

1. right click the speaker in the lower right corner and select adjust audio properties.

2. Select the audio tab

3. Pull the drop down menu under sound recording and make sure it is selected to your audio driver device. Most are either soundmax, creative(for soundblaster and audigy standalone cards), realtek, or ASUS.

4. Next repeat step one but select open volume control

5. Go to options and then properties

6. Select the circle for recording and make sure your mic input is checked.

7. Close that window and recording mixers will pop up. Select the input you need by checking the box in the lower left corner of the mixer channel. Adjust the level and then use your recording program or sound recorder under Program files>accesories>communication>sound recorder.

When I connect my midi cables to my PC and use Fruity Loops or Mixcraft and I play notes on the Roland Juno D keyboard, some of the notes stick and dont stop playing once released and others are played...

You need to turn off the echo of the MIDI that sends the signals back to the Juno. When near simulataneous MIDI signals are mixed the decoder can receive "partial" messages that re-trigger the notes and then miss the note off commands. If you can't find the setting in the software, disconnect the input to the Juno MIDI while recording it.

The name for the notes that don't stop playing is "Dreaded MIDI Drone". It is caused by multiple note on commands and lost "mating" note off commands.

Also read "c." on page 80 regarding buffer length and "choppy" sounds.

Ive been able to record and now i cant record bcuz the screen says "no inputs..." but i can hear music thru the inputs and the lexicon alpha is selected as the input and output sourc. whats wrong????

It sounds like you have NOT connected via the recording software.
It is like the normal Windows software audio has hijacked the audio system even though it is external.

Go into your recording software and look for an option to select the Lexicon device. You did not tell us what recording software you are using.

This is not an uncommon problem with these external audio recording devices.

How do you make a song to loop at the 16th bar, i.e recording on a 16/4 time signature?

16/4 is not a usual time signature, is that what you meant? if what you mean is that you want the song to loop AFTER 16 bars, in other words play the 16 bar then go back to bar 1 then you need to set the loop point at bar 17. It doesnt matter what time sig you are in, this will work. If you want to actually loop the 16th bar ONLY then you need to set the loop out point at bar 17 and the loop in point at bar 16. Hope this helps.
