February 1996. My tv is stuck in aux mode. Let it sit for a few hours,
I can get cable, press any button it switches to aux mode.

Reset the TV to its factory settings. If it do not help you, the main system memory IC should be replaced. To reset the TV; unplug it from AC mains wall socket, and re-plug it back after five minutes or so.
the tv is just okey only that it has a failt with tuner stage, but never the less, take your tv to a tech, who will contact, assistance. www.freelists.org/archive/techassist/01

In my manual, to control a sony TV.. the code is number 8 or number 9.
You will hold down TV POWER, hit 8 then release TV POWER. If that doesn't work, try number 9. Once the batteries are removed, it resets the code, so write it down. It will also over ride your old codes once you input the new one.
Note: Depending on your TV, some or all buttons may not function on the TV, even after entering the correct manufacturer code.

Yes it is fixable. There are one or more bad caps in the vertical circuit. If you would post the model number listed o the back of the set, I should be able to give you more details.
