Sony KP-61HS10 st start up blurry gets better the longer its on

At start up my tv is very blurry showing some shadows especially on words on the screen takes 10 minutes or so before you can read any words. The words are very shadowed and the picture has green and red outlines a little bit. Please help if you have a solution to my problem not ready to give up this tv just yet! Thanks

what is a solder? how do I fix it?

  • Anonymous Feb 22, 2009

Our Sony KP-61HS10 takes awhile for the picture to clear up. When you first turn it on it is so blurry you can barely see the picture. After 10 minutes the picture gets better. We also get yellow, blue and red shadows that come and go. They are prominent for a couple days and then they go away.

I have the same problem.....what board is the convergance amps on? I have service manual and scematics, just not sure what to look for.

  • dpd588 Mar 31, 2009

My Sony KP-61HS10 was purchased in June 2001.  I have experienced the same problem when the TV is first turned on everything appears blurry or ghosting especially if I use the guide on the cable box. I can push the flash focus button on the front of the TV but as it "warms up" it will go back out of focus. The repair guy checked nothing, he only used my remote to manually adjust the convergence. It looked worse the next morning than it did before he touched it. I suggested the possibility of a convergence repair kit that I read online but he seemed to think that will not fix it. Still don't know what's wrong.
Could it be a loose solder???

You have loose solder connections on the convergence amps. This is a common problem caused by heat within the unit.If you can solder you can fix it.

How can i line the lights up in my sony kp-61hs10.

I'm going to assume that the "lights" are images on the screen that seem to have a multi colored shadow. Within the menu there's a choice for convergence, when selected this gives a white cross centered in the screen. Using the arrow keys on the remote (left-right for vertical movement and up/down for horizontal) you will adjust the color that is "shadowing" or get all the colors aligned so the white cross has no trailing red or blue either horizontally or vertically. If you can't get it to adjust or there is no effect then repair is probably the only option.

Issue is with main tuner since you have two of them. At least the tv is ok but that tuner is fubar.

Convergence Settings

Setting the convergence is not a user servicable item. Such adjustments need specialized equipment for proper alignment. Have unit serviced by pro/tech

Picture very blurry with lines going accross screen

hi gud day! your problem has a solution. Just try to fix your tv from blurry picture. Pull the socket at hte back of the picture tube. remove the socket from pcb(printed circuit board) de solder the pins. then after that, if you see a 2 metal formed like a small mountain facing each other, try to clean those remove the rust (green color) using sander or any material you can use, just avoid using oil on that bcause it is sparking. then try to install it again and try to turn on your tv. if still not working replace that socket with a new one. you can buy it at any electronic supply store. and re install then on it again.. surely it will fix your tv without expensive components.

be sure unplugging the tv from ac souce before disassimbling...

thanks,
janex

Sony KP-61HS10 Rear projection TV blurry /shadows at first start

Sounds like the convergence ic's need to be replaced or resoldered. Sometimes it can be a microfuse if you are lucky. But my question is if you hit the focus button up front does it make it thru the auto convergence? Let me know. Have a good one.

Sony tv KP-61HS10 lenses wont align

This is common in those sets. One of your convergence IC's has stopped working and needs to be replaced. The convergence IC should be replaced and the convergence circuits realigned by someone with experience in Sony projection sets.
