Picture very blurry with lines going accross screen

Sony KP-61HS10 Rear projection Have this Sony bought in 2000, picture is very blurry with lines going accross it. Gets better at warmup but then it goes again. When I pull out my monster component plugs and put them back in, it goes away for awhile then returns. Is this set worth fixing, much nicer newer ones on the market but I hate to get rid of it without giving it one shot to see if it can be fixed. thanks.

Hi gud day! your problem has a solution. Just try to fix your tv from blurry picture. Pull the socket at hte back of the picture tube. remove the socket from pcb(printed circuit board) de solder the pins. then after that, if you see a 2 metal formed like a small mountain facing each other, try to clean those remove the rust (green color) using sander or any material you can use, just avoid using oil on that bcause it is sparking. then try to install it again and try to turn on your tv. if still not working replace that socket with a new one. you can buy it at any electronic supply store. and re install then on it again.. surely it will fix your tv without expensive components.

be sure unplugging the tv from ac souce before disassimbling...

thanks,
janex

SONY rear projection TV KP61HS10 picture blurry, hazy

Issue is with main tuner since you have two of them. At least the tv is ok but that tuner is fubar.

Sony kp-61hs10 tv, has sound but picture goes black after 3 min.

I just had the same problem. If your lucky it might be a free 5 minute fix. The five light flashes mean impropper current. I took the front grill off, then behind that is another black cover, I took that off and noticed the circuit boards COVERED in dust. I then took an air can duster and blew off all the dust... works like new. No more flashes and in an out picture. The collection of dust was interfereing with the electrical current.

Sony KP-61HS10 st start up blurry gets better the longer its on

You have loose solder connections on the convergence amps. This is a common problem caused by heat within the unit.If you can solder you can fix it.

Did you accidentally turn on SVM? Make sure it's off. And make sure you haven't switched to a different picture mode by mistake.

Sony KP-61HS10 Rear projection TV blurry /shadows at first start

Sounds like the convergence ic's need to be replaced or resoldered. Sometimes it can be a microfuse if you are lucky. But my question is if you hit the focus button up front does it make it thru the auto convergence? Let me know. Have a good one.
