You may have to reboot your PC and try to connect again.
If you have "Viewed all available networks" and tried to connect to your Wireless network but cannot what kind of error message are you getting ?

To quickly find out if you have Internet Connectivity coming in at all from your Internet Service Provider turn off your wireless switch on your laptop and try to connect a cat5 directly from your PC ( connect cat5 cable to what looks like a slightly larger telephone jack on the side or back of your laptop) to the back of your router and see if you browse the internet. You may have to reset your router (unplug and plug)

My network says that it can't find the internal wireless adapter

well! friend i use to work for netgear and let me tell you if your wireless network was unsecured then somebody connected to your router wirelessly and enabled password on your router.it is quite possible that your router login password is also changed.if not then you are lucky.try this ->
goto start - run - type CMD and press enter in the DOS window type ipconfig and enter whatever is the default gateway is just copy it.open inter explorer and type that default gateway in the address bar and enter.it will ask you for username and password.use the username and password provided on the back the router on the sticker.get into your router`s settings goto wireless section and change the password.it would be WEP or WPA.always keep security or that guy will hack your wireless again. if it doesn`t work then you have to reset the router by pressing the little button on the back for 10 to 15 seconds.reconfigure your router with the help of the CD that came with it you can also do it manually if you know.
