No Video I ordered a new Hyper Module (MVPU14)and installed it. I was getting wavey lines for the first 10 min. after turning the set on. I was told the hyper module was the cause. After installing the module I no longer get any video at all. Sound works fine but no video,no menu display nothing. Is there something that needs to be reset? I was very carefull soldering the ground posts.

You was Right! I found flux residue around the tabs. after cleaning the board the set works fine. Replacing the hyper module cleared the wavey lines. The set works like new.
    Thank You

The VVPU14 hyper module in that unit is a trickey installation because they have their can tabs soldered to the motherboard and next to each of the solder points on the pad are fine wire traces on top and bottom of the board that can easily be broken or over soldered... Check there first, with a fine magnifier. To answer your question, no, there are no resets or anything else you need to do to after the H/M install. Good Luck. Bill

Toshiba hyper module. Vertical lines on screen.

change the 10 or so surface mounted bad filter caps in the Hyper module this set uses--the board is no longer available--it can be sent out for rebuild (not toshiba) but that is rather costly (200+)

The picture is wavey tried everything and i am unable to fix can u help me?

The hypeboard has failed. There are about 12 capacitors (surface mount) that need to be replaced. Unless you have very good soldering skills you shouldn't attempt the repair. The hyperboard will be marked with MVPU14 I believe. It should be located directly behind all your input connections in enclosed in a metal can. It is about 8" inch square module that plugs into the signal board.

The metal housing will need to be unsoldered from the signal board, before you can remove and service the hyperl board.

It is the Hyper board gone bad. There 11 10uf 16v cap's that go bad. They are very small surface mount type 4mm in size. They are cheap but hard to solder in. There is a guy on ebay who is rebuilding them for $75. Just search this part number: MVPU14 that is the hyper board.

Shakey Screen

That problem is caused by defective capacitors on the Hyper Board location UZ01 stamped MVPU14. You will need to have a technican remove the board and replace all the 10 uF @ 16 Volt SMD caps p/n 24619040N found on that board. The Hyper board is no longer available as a part.

Is my Toshiba 57H81 worth repair?

Bounce horizontally usually means up and down, which relates

to the vertical output IC. Solder IC301, IC401 pin connects==try

again. You can easily isolate "bounce" problems by lightly

tapping on the vertical IC heatsink....Let me know if you need

further assistance.....T.

PS. Though hard to find, a qualified tech could do that repair

in home for 300. to 400.00...
