The PIN is an optional feature which should not pop up if the unit is brand new. If you got it used, get the PIN from whoever sold it to you.

You only have (2) solutions:
1. Take the unit to where the secure location where the PIN was set and it will not ask your for the PIN. Then you can delete it or change it.
2. The PIN is located in non-volatile memory and can not be reset except by the factory.

It has to go back to garmin, the pin is written to non volatile memory, so a power interruption wont erase it. Garmin will reset it, if you are not the original owner and it is reported stolen Garmin will notify the police.
Basically the memory has to be flashed by garmin, sorry it is not what you want to hear, but don't dammage your gps trying to reset it by opening it up, that only voids the warranty and will cost you more money.

I think the true purpose of the pin is for another income stream to garmin they want $110 to unlock it. If not then why not just register a pin when you register for the warranty then just use your MY GARMIN to get it when you need it???

To perform a Master Reset on the nuvi 200, 205, 465, 500, 600,
700, 705, 1200,1300,1400 or 1600 series device:
Note: A master
reset will erase all waypoints or favorites and will restore
your unit to the default factory settings. If you would like to back up
your favorites you can find instructions to do so here.
The
device will automatically reset. Follow the on screen prompts then
place your device in an area with a clear view of the sky until it
acquires satellites.
