Every time you install a new operating system, or reinstall one, you have to install the printer drivers. Printer drivers never come with the operating system files like hard drive drivers, video drivers, audio drivers, network drivers and stuff like that. OS manufacturers know that you are going to need that stuff no matter what, and for the most part, there are not that many manufacturers. But printers are different, you always have to install them. Here is the best printer driver I can find for your printer with Windows 7:

Please note: This is a 32 bit driver (the link on the page) and Canon does not have a windows 7 - 64 bit driver yet. If you need a 64 bit driver, use the Vista 64 bit driver and install it in compatibility mode. Windows 7 compatibility mode is excellent...HP still does not have a Windows 7 driver for my printer, and I run mine off of a Vista driver and it works great. If you try to install it straight, it won't install, because most vista software is stricly Vista compatible. You have to open the folder, find the setup file that begins the install, and right click, and check compatibility options. You get a box that opens and you can check exactly what version of Vista with exactly what service pack...and be sure to check the little box that says install as administrator. If the install fails, and you can't find how to do this, do the install again...if the install fails I think it is 2 or 3 times...Windows will automatically pop up the box for you. Windows 7 is very intuitive....I LOVE IT!
