I bought a Doro 530+1 phone from a guy on eBay. It was the Doro 530 ONLY (that is, on the base of the phone, it says "530+1" but I only got the base). As well as this, it came with three additional handsets which are all the same - marked "DORO 1000 AHS" - (AHS = Additional HandSet??). Regardless of whether the additional handsets are in use, the main base unit's handset won't work. It shows a flashing aerial symbol on the handset screen, which suggests to me it's trying to find the base - only it never does. Yet despite this, all the additional handsets work flawlessly.
How can I get the main handset to "connect with" the base so that it works?
Thanks in advance! :)
The main handset has a flashing antenna in the right hand side of the screen. I have made sure that the power is connected to the base. Also the two additional handsets do not work. They have dashes on the screen and do not work at all. I do not have a manual to be able to check what is wrong or see how to fix the problem. The main handset has a flashing antenna in the right hand side of the screen. The instructions worked after the additional KX-TGA402N handset was fully charged and I kept pressing the menu/ok button of the additional handset to advance from initial settings to the handset registration mode.
Jill,
The only logical way is to get the additional handsets to communicate with the base. And to do that you must set them to the frequency of the base. You Use guide will tell you how to set the frequency n the handsets to talk to the base. They way you set the original ones.
BUT, I doubt if this will work. Why? Because if that was the case if you and I had the same company phones, then I would stand outside your home and set the same frequency on my handset and misuse your phone. A great security risk in today's world. But there is no harm trying it out. Just set the same frequency on the additional ones as the base. If it works, then you will have that many more intercoms too. And do let me know if it works.
Instructions for registering additional new handsets on VTech Model DS6151: Place additional handset on main base. Press HOLD on main base and # on handset. Asks you to de-register. Press no. Registration of additional handset takes place.
The hand sets probably need to go through the 'registration' process with the base station. Look up the steps on how to do this in your manual.
One thing that the manual sometimes does not highlight clearly is that first you need to press and hold down a button on the main base station for a while until it beeps. Then you can go through the menu on the hand set to complete the registration process.
You need to register the new handset with the base. In Global settings De-register the new handset then place it on the main base unit connected. It should then register.
Cancel the old handsets registration at the previous base unit if desired.
For additional handsets, you must register each of them at the new base unit. Only one handset can be registered at a time. A handset will be assigned anextension number at registration. Make sure the base unit and the other handsets are not being used. Program the same way as the extra handset you bought.
