Hi! YOu need to disconnect your ipod from the pc.
Put the ipod into diskmode by following these instructions-
Before placing the iPod into disk mode, you should verify that it is charged.
Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Set it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
Press and hold the Menu and Select buttons for at least 6 seconds until the Apple logo appears.
When the Apple logo appears, release the Menu and Select buttons and immediately press and hold the Select and the Play/Pause buttons until the Disk Mode screen appears.

Hi, i have a 160gb ipod classic, it doesnt turn anymore, and when i plug it into power or itunes the "charging please wait" comes up but it stays stuck on like that, i have tried restarting it and itunes...

Not sure what you meant by "restarted" but sometimes it takes "resetting" the ipod by plugging the cable into a reliable power source and then holding down both the menu and select (center circle) buttons for more than 5 seconds.

My ipod has a circle red x on it and wont respond

First try resetting the iPod. If this does not work then restore it.
To RESET IPOD: 1 Toggle the Hold switch on and off (slide it to HOLD and then back again). 2 Press and hold the Menu and Center buttons for at least 6 seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
To RESTORE IPOD To update or restore iPod classic: 1 Make sure you have an Internet connection and have installed the latest version of iTunes from http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/?ipod 2 Connect iPod classic to your computer. 3 In iTunes, select iPod classic in the source list and click the Summary tab. The Version section tells you whether iPod classic is up to date or needs a newer version of the software.
In Restore all data is erased from iPod classic, including songs, videos, files, contacts, photos, calendar information, and any other data. All iPod classic settings are restored to their original state.

My ipod says www.apple.com/support/ipod when i turn on my 160gb ipod it reads a big red x and the apple.com/support

This indicates that the hard drive inside the iPod classic has gone bad.

Check Apple's Warranty web page to see if your iPod is still under warranty: https://selfsolve.apple.com/GetWarranty.do

Simply type in the Serial Number located on the back of the iPod, and your location. Who knows, if you are lucky, you may be able to send it in to get it fixed/replaced for free.
