SOURCE: Whirpool gas dryer not heating up

Take a volt meter and call for the unit to come on. Take the connector off to the igniter and check for voltage to those wires. If you get voltage but it does not start, then you know the igniter is bad. It could also be a limit switch. There will be 2 wires that terminate to a small disk with a button in the center. Depress the button firmly to reset it. It should be located near the burner. If it is the timer, you will need to locate and isolate the power wires leaving the timer and check voltage there. Hopefully this information is helpful.

SOURCE: why dosent my dryer get heat

Look at the gas valve coils to determine if they are faulty. If the igniter radiates but then shuts off before it ignites the gas, then the coils are probably bad. Replace the coils and your problem should be solved. Also, if you find the igniter working properly then the problem may be with the radiant heat sensor. The sensors are usually located close by the igniter so are easily visible. Hire a repairman to replace these faulty parts.

Thermostat controls heat. There is also a

motor centrifulgal switch, in the element

circuit, that the motor closes to insure

the motor is turning. Try another heat

setting. There is more than one

thermostat. You may have blown the

'thermal fuse' too, which requires

replacement. The elecment has a contact in

the 'timer' circuit too.

It is possible that your element has

failed also.

Tripped high limit. Must clean the lint

filter and the exhaust vent tube and all

the way in to the dryer. Hot air exit is

restricted.

On a gas dryer the heat normally only comes on for 30 seconds or until the drum temp reaches 160f at which time the flame is shut down by the cycling thermostat. The drum temp then starts to drop. When the drum temp reaches 105f then another blast of heat is issued for 30 more seconds. That is how they work. Put it all back together and trow a load in there.

Gas dryer will not heat up. Flame ignites on occasion. Changed the ingnitor but still has the same problem

Hello.

If your Maytag dryer has mysteriously stopped producingheat, a blown thermal fuse may be the cause of your problem. In Whirlpool dryers, thermal fuses are safety switches that are designed to disrupt the flow ofelectricity to your dryer's heating mechanisms once the dryer reaches apredetermined maximum temperature, usually somewhere around 180 degrees F.Thankfully, troubleshooting the thermal fuse in a Maytag dryer is easierthan it sounds. Instructions And Things You'll Need
  • Screwdriver
  • Towel
  • Electrical tape
  • Replacement thermal fuse, if necessary
1 Clean out thelint screen in your Maytag clothes dryer. Lint buildup can cause your dryerto overheat, triggering the thermal fuse to disrupt power to your dryer'sheating mechanisms. Take the lint screen out of your Whirlpool dryer and washit in warm water. Dry the screen thoroughly before replacing it.
2 Look behindthe dryer to check its flexible exhaust hose for kinks or obstructions.Disconnect the exhaust hose from the back of your dryer and clean out any lintthat has built up.
3 Go outside andcheck your Maytag dryer's exhaust vent for obstructions. Lint buildup, birdnests or other obstructions in the outside exhaust vent can trigger yourdryer's thermal fuse.
4 Disconnectyour dryer from its power source before attempting to access its thermal fuse.
5 Access the thermal fuse in your Maytag dryer byremoving the back panel. Remove the screws that hold the back panel in placeand it should easily come free.
6 Look betweenthe dryer's blower housing and exhaust to locate its thermal fuse. The thermalfuse in a Whirlpool dryer looks like a white plastic strip that has two wiresconnected to it.
7 Bypass the thermal fuse in your Maytag dryer whileyou perform a quick diagnostic test. Use electrical tape to tape together thetwo wires connected to the thermal fuse. Reassemble your dryer and plug it backin. Set the dryer to a timed heated drying cycle and press "Start."If the dryer produces heat with its thermal fuse bypassed, it means the thermalfuse needs to be replaced.
8 Replace a blown thermal fuse in your Maytag dryer.Disconnect the power and remove the back panel. Remove the electrical tape thatyou used to perform the diagnostic test and disconnect the wires from thethermal fuse. Remove the screws that secure the thermal fuse to the dryer anddiscard the blown fuse. Attach the replacement thermal fuse by replacing andtightening the screws. Attach the wires to the new thermal fuse.

Whirlpool AWZ7303 condensing tumble dryer . Drum not turning although it is heating

If your Whirlpool dryer has mysteriously stopped producing heat, a blown thermal fuse may be the cause of your problem. In Whirlpool dryers, thermal fuses are safety switches that are designed to disrupt the flow of electricity to your dryer's heating mechanisms once the dryer reaches a predetermined maximum temperature, usually somewhere around 180 degrees F. Thankfully, troubleshooting the thermal fuse in a Whirlpool dryer is easier than it sounds. Instructions:

  • Clean out the lint screen in your Whirlpool clothes dryer. Lint buildup can cause your dryer to overheat, triggering the thermal fuse to disrupt power to your dryer's heating mechanisms. • Disconnect your dryer from its power source before attempting to access its thermal fuse.
  • Access the thermal fuse in your Whirlpool dryer by removing the back panel. Remove the screws that hold the back panel in place and it should easily come free.
  • Look between the dryer's blower housing and exhaust to locate its thermal fuse. The thermal fuse in a Whirlpool dryer looks like a white plastic strip that has two wires connected to it.
  • Bypass the thermal fuse in your Whirlpool dryer while you perform a quick diagnostic test. Use electrical tape to tape together the two wires connected to the thermal fuse. Reassemble your dryer and plug it back in. Set the dryer to a timed heated drying cycle and press "Start." If the dryer produces heat with its thermal fuse bypassed, it means the thermal fuse needs to be replaced.
  • Replace a blown thermal fuse in your Whirlpool dryer. Disconnect the power and remove the back panel. Remove the electrical tape that you used to perform the diagnostic test and disconnect the wires from the thermal fuse. Remove the screws that secure the thermal fuse to the dryer and discard the blown fuse. Attach the replacement thermal fuse by replacing and tightening the screws. Attach the wires to the new thermal fuse.

Our Whirlpool dryer model #LER7646AQ0 will not start. Door switch checks for power with a power tester. Put new start switch in and still doesn't work. Do I need to use Ohm tester or will power tester...

This problem is commonly caused by a blown thermal fuse located on the blower housing. The thermal fuse is wired in series with the motor and the motor activates a centrifugal switch for the heating element when it runs. These setup makes the dryer fail to start and the heating element not to turn on if the thermal fuse is blown. The dryer seems to no work at all. Verify the condition of the thermal fuse by bypassing it and starting the dryer.

Disconnect power then access and bypass the thermal fuse on the blower housing. The blower housing is located on the rear left bottom of the dryer cabinet. Remove the rear panel to access the blower housing and so the thermal fuse.

Bypass the thermal fuse by disconnecting the wires and connecting them together. Insulate them properly and plug the dryer back in. The thermal fuse is indeed blown and needs to be replaced along with the cycling thermostat if the dryer starts. Do not use the dryer with the thermal fuse bypassed due to fire hazards.

The thermal fuse and cycling thermostat are part numbers 3392519 and 3387134, respectively.

it's not the thermal fuse, the dryer wouldn't run and the ignitor wouldn't glow.sounds like you have bad gas coils,if the dryer runs for the first 15 to 30 minutes normally and then no more flame the coils are failing, when they are bad they work until they heat up and then nothing, when they cool down they work again, common problem, also you should clean out the dryer once a year ,clean out the duct that the lint filter slides into,if your vent line is long take it off from the back of the dryer and blow it out with a leaf blower, make sure the outside vent is clear first, you can have a fire and then you can pop the thermal fuse, clean it and your clothes will dry on time, let me know what you find

You have a bad thermal fuse and cycling thermostat. You can buy them ina a kit. When the cycling thermostat goes out the dryer cycles on the thermal fuse (High limit) until it goes out causing the dryer to not heat. You can take the back off and look for them. There are two different thermal fuses. One type is round on and looks like other pieces in the back, only smaller around. About the size of a dime. The other is 1/2" wide and 2" long. Both have two wires. You can test and see by unplugging the machine, connecting the two wires going to the piece together. Tape them together so they touch no metal. Now plug machine in and try. DO NOT OPERATE MACHINE WITH PIECE BYPASSED. THIS IS FOR TESTING ONLY.

Hello Friend, Your problem is very simple to fix. You're dryer needs a gas valve coil kit. To replace coils just remove front of dryer body and look below drum you will see the gas valve. The valve coils are located on top of valve (two little round black cylinders). It's simple, just remove the two screws from the little metal bracket that holds them down, unplug the wires from them and just lift them straight up off of the valve. Take notice that one has 3 wires and one has 2 wires. Just replace with new coils and plug wires back in and re-fasten metal bracket. Your dryer will run like new. Happy to help, Tim.
