I can only use numbers when i press the numberlock and i cant type anything else

1. Press the Fn key a few times, it may be stuck.
2. Press the Fn key + the number lock key, your keyboard may be set as a number pad.
3. If you have access to a USB keyboard (e.g. from a desktop) then plug that in and see if it works.

You have to have NUMBERLOCK ON to use the number pad .if you don't want to use the number lock key all the time you can go into the bios and change the setting for numberlock , then your pc will boot with number lock on all the time.

On most keyboards there is a key which says 'Num Lock' just press it. It is usually above the numbers if you have a keyboard with additional numbers to the right.

Find a key called number lock on right hand side on top row. press once and see if numeric key board works! When you press this key there should a small indicator goes on or off! good luck!

On a notebook computer, there is a FN key that when pressed with the appropriate special function key will disable the normal keyboard and enable the alternate letters (printed in a different color) on your keyboard.
Unfortunately, I can't remember which special function key that is--but the icon on it should give you a clue.

Go to control panel and scroll down to regional and language settings. Go through each tab, including the keyboard tab and make sure all of them say either United States or English - (United States)

Just press the funtion key and the Numberlock key
FN + NmLk (Usually on the same key as delete)

i know of one way to fix this problem ...you need to hook and standerd 101 keyboard up to the laptop and then long in with it and when you have gotten on your acount the hit the number lock key on the big keyboard and then log off .....then un hook the key board and this should fix the problem

On the Thinkpad T30, the number lock key can be turned on or off by pressing the shift-key and the scroll-lock key. The scroll lock button is found at the top of the keyboard between the PrtSc button and the Pause button.

You should see the light with the arrow and the number 1 inside (just above the F7 key) turn on and off when you press this.

there's a number lock on the upper right side of your keyboard, above the number pad..and a light above it to indicate when it's on..just press that key, and you should be ok..
