This inspiron 5160 that is 3-4 years old during the middle of WOW just froze in about 1/4" vertical rows that were fuzzy white and other colors. So i turned off the laptop because it wasn't responding to any keyboard commands. The next day I started it up and the screen was black. Dark black without the backlight or anything. So I hooked it up to another screen and it worked fine. Is there any hope of fixing my laptop screen or do i need to play connected to the monitor of my other computer. P.S. It also has trouble holding a charge, I need to push it in further and also tilt it up for it to charge. Please help.

There are row and column drivers the operate the pixels on flat screen TVs. A black line either horizontal or vertical indicates a problem with the driver, connector, or the screen itself. It's likely not cost effective to fix being this old.
this is a common problem, the vertical hold has been damaged.dont leave the teli. on,the white line will burn the middle of the screen and leave a black mark. You need a new integrated circuit(i.c.) for vertical hold.
There is a small board that the power button is integrated into that connects to the motherboard. When this power board malfunctions it will cause this issue with the machine. It can, and quite often does, damage the motherboard when it malfinctions. You should take the machine in for a power board replacement and a diagnostic to make sure that the power board hasn't damaged the motherboard.
Thin white dashes on top of screen is PERFECTLY NORMAL. It is nothing wrong with the TV, it is the broadcast. What you are seeing is the very bottom of the timecode running. It doesn't happen all of the time or all channels. It usually happens with old 4:3 commercials predating "Digital TV." This is mentioned in your Users Manual. You should be able to adjust the horizontal/vertical position in the menu settings.
