I just got my TomTom One 125 today and it works great on a trip back home. It was a Christmas gift from my family who all use the TomTom One 125 GPS devices
I am the original poster, rdsrds2, and after 4 go arounds with TomTom tech support I finally got someone who knew exactly what to do. My problem is solved. Some of the other solutions posted here may be equally valid. To all who are having installation problems, here is the download you want:

I had the same problem. Home version 2.5 absolutely would not install. Finally after reading through several message boards, I found that if you download the previous version of home 2.2xxx---it will install and then it automatically upgrades to 2.5. This worked for me. Support at TomTom couldn't even help me but this did work. I hope this helps.
I also found that not having net framework installed could be the problem. Even though installing the version 2.2xxx worked. I installed net framework on another computer and the 2.5 home version started installing right away. This is probably the fix instead of trying to hunt around for the older version of home--which is not easy, Betty
By the way I forgot to mention that I found these possible solutions from another message board.

my computer can not find a driver to install tom tom home problem for xp window. thanks
I download the TomTom Home exe file on to my XP Home Addition PC. But when I 2x click, the hour glass icon appears for about 2 seconds and nothing ever happens after that. Only thing I see after hunting around is that a TomTom file generated in the PREFETCH directory.
At my library it works. Library uses XP V 5.1 Service pack 3.
I assume this is the driver problem?
