I have got a new tom tom one new edition. When i turned it on all it says is no maps found, how do i solve this.
This problem just happened to me. i'd just bought my new tomtom one and tested it on the journey home. all was well and i was really impressed. that was until I got it home and went to update it to get the latest maps for my area. I installed all the software as instructed by the on screen prompts and downloaded the latest updates. i then went to turn the device on, and was greeted by a message stating ''no maps found!''
after almost two hours of complete frustration, i then tried probably the easiest solution anyone could think of:
First of all, connect the device to your computer and close down tom tom home. (making sure it isn't even open in the system tray).
Now, open my computer and find the device. it will be labelled as a storage device (mine was drive G). Open it up and find where the maps are saved to. Something like, UK and Ireland, or something similar relating the place you live. Once located, delete them manually.
Now, reopen tomtom home and go to tools. Click ''use latest map guarantee''. It will then download the maps again and install them onto the device.
Next disconnect using the option 'disconnect device'' from the device menu.
Finally turn on your tom tom if it doesn't automatically, and you should be back in business. This worked for me, after trying numerous way more complicated solutions I found in various forums.
Hope it works for you too!

Just had this same problem. Quite strange. I have a Tomtom One New Edition and connected to a Vista Ultimate computer. Here is what I did to fix the problem I was having.
Exited out of the Tomtom HOME application. Went to "Computer" and right clicked the Tomtom drive (was M: for me, could be different for you) with the Red Icon. Selected properties and click on tools. From there I selected "Error-Checking" and only checked "Automatically scan and fix errors for me". It said it found a couple errors and corrected it. I then doubled clicked the icon in the bottom right portion of my screen which looks like a USB plug with a green check mark on it. I selected the drive and clicked stop. I disconnected the usb plug and then used a small tack on the bottom of the Tomtom unit to reset the device. After that, I turned the unit on and all was fine and I could clearly see that an update was applied.
Good luck! They really should have a support bulletin for this as this is clearly a common issue.

Ok, I had the same problem on a 325SE. I contacted tomtom and they were absoloutly AWESOME. They said it was a common problem mostly do to the fact that this was a Black Fridy item and the overwhelming map download request at almost the same time swamped their system.
We did a very simple format of my device and reloaded the map and it works fine.
I do suggest that if you do the map upgrade do it on a hard line not wireless.
In simple we opened tomtom Home adn connected the device. Once it found my gps we turned off tomtom home and went into my computer and deleted the USA_Canada maps and then tried the download when it said I did not have enough space we right clicked on properties and hit the format button. After format we opened tomtom home and disconnected the device. We then reconnected the device and let tomtom hom install everything. Then we loaded the voices and downloaded the map that was stored on my computer. Ta Da.. it works.. Hope that helps. I suggest that you call customer service as the were AWESOME !!!.

There is only one way to solve this... It's ain't pretty, you must PURCHASE a new map and install it and then it works fine. I asked TomTom for a refund of the $79.00 map purchase since that is the only fix and they refused, they admitted that that will work and at the same time admitted there is a problem with the OEM map but will NOT take respocability to their customers and give the new maps out free, I am thinking of filling a small claims against them,

In the tomtom home software, go to file -> latest map guarantee and then sign in and download latest maps

I had the same problem after I followed the suggestion of TomTom to update my map on my 1 month old TTone. After downloading and installing the available updates I got the infamous message "No maps found". Of course it was during a weekend after TT Customer service was closed for a couple of days."Googled" the problem and tried all kind of suggestions, but nothing worked. Dec31,07 I decided to phone their Customer Service number, but before I did I verified if new updates and fixes had become available and behold there were two. I downloaded and installed them and the unit worked immediately again. I think there was a flaw in their firmware and hope this upgrade/update will solve your problems too. Happy New Year.

APPLE MAC Easy fix, No file transfer no exe,s no.pls,s no file transfers. Go to TomTom Home and click on Manage My Device make sure the top folder says items on device click on maps and click on remove items from device ( do not do this if you have purchased maps) the maps will back up on your computer, after they are removed go to top of page at TomTom Home and click on tools and click on Use Latest map Guarantee make sure it loads from online and not from your computer back up file, after it loads (takes about a hour ) it should work.

Believe it or not, after trying everything. Disable your anti-virus before downloading & installing their updates. For some reason, they have gone back in the past & their updates get messed up by the anivirus. If you have already downloaded them & they are on your computer, delete them & download them again. This way is actually very easy & after that you can just restart you anti-virus.

For my 1505M I was able to find the solution for "no maps found". Firstly, make sure you have installed extra memory in the TomTom, and then reboot your PC in "safe mode with networking". that is the trick. I believe that the tomtom gps has too short of a timeout for its communication driver. Unfortunately, when comms fail, the map download starts from scratch. I believe that safe mode, which has minimal apps installed on your PC, the comms driver is able to always respond quickly enough to handshake signals with the tomtom gps. This should work for any of the models where people are seeing the "no maps found" message. Regards, Brian

mine still wont work, just kept updating it and still just says 'no maps found'!? please help :-(
Out of the box, TomTom One could not find GPS signal. Updated maps and software from TomTom Home and not I have the message "No Maps Found." Home software shows the map is on the device. Reset does not work.
Same here, updated the software, first it wouldn't detect the memory card any more, then it says no maps available.
This is NOT why I bought a sat nav I have sat googling for hours trying to sort it and their phone support isn't open over the weekend... how useful :O(
I was trying to install a set of point of Interests and it said there were no maps available.

Help tried to update my tomtom on tomtom home, now when i turn it on it says no maps!!
help!
Same thing happened to me. Just got my TT1 3rd ed, it was working fine until I downloaded and installed new US/Canada maps (b/c the ones loaded didn't include roads that have been there for at least a year). Since the install, I get the infamous 'No maps found' message.
I have the same problem. Â Tom tom worked fine until I connected it to my computer using TomTom Home. Â After disconnecting got the "no maps" message. Â Trying to download the maps now but it's taking over 3 hours on a DSL connection. Â Will see if this works.
doesn`t do any thing
I LOST MY SD CARD
i lost my sd card how can download map
The problem is tha TomTom sucks!!! I have tried everything and nothing seems to work, they make you pay for new maps, so the best thing to do is to stay out of tom tom home and any updates they have, unless you are willing to pay for updated maps, again TOM TOM SUCKS!!! Wish i could have my money back.
