Sony KP-511HW40 fleshing with green color and shuts off

When I turned on my 6 years old Sony KP-511HW40
from cold, it works for about 5 minutes and then the screen
fleshes with light green, shuts off and then switches off.
Red stand-by light flashes continuously. Is it lamp or tube issues?
Please help.

This is a common fault adjust the little black box in front behind the small wooden cover. you will see 6 controls don't adjust any of the top 3 only the bottom knobs 1 for each color. slowly back the control counterclockwise turn the set on and wait untill it shows a picture, slowly adjust the control for the color in question utill the color balance is correct- black and white with the color setting turned down all the way with the user menu when balance is ok you are all set.. turn the color back up with user control. rtepeat process if needed.

Sony KP-51WS510

you need a green CRT thats whay you have the white kind of concave lines with the green screen. You can try adjusting the green screen control but you need anew CRT ( tube) the speaker cover has two plastic plugs that get removed on the lower edge os the grille which covers the two screws that hold the grille on. If you need more assistancr or where to get a green CRT let me know as I have a link that has some green and red Tubes for your model.

Green flashes then tv turns off

or a new lamp. you could first replace the lamp.
the screen might work fine for a couple of seconds, but then it fades away or deteriorates. This means the lamp is going bad.

The dark colos have a lil' green on them...why?

How old is this set? Sounds like a CRT issue, might be able to adjust the G2 control (SCREEN), you will have to pull the bottom pannel off the front and there should be another little 1/4" thick board that comes off with a few screws and then a 6 knob control, turn your color all the way off in the menu and adjust your screen controlls up till you get some overcolor with lines in it and then back down just before the lines (MAKE SURE YOU DEFAULT ALL YOUR USER MENUS) check that you have a black and white picture after adjusting all 3 screen controls like before with the menu color off. If you have a bad CRT it will go again, the CRT may no longer be available, if the set is not too old i.e. 5-8 years old it may be a defect with multiple CRTs.
