Pictures look like a bright light has been turned on.

When I take pictures with my Sony DSC F717 they look very bright, like someone shined a bright light while taking the picture. Any ideas why?

May be the issue with the CCD (image sensor device) of the Camera. This is a known issue with this Camera.

Refer this article to confirm this:

http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/news-item.pl?news_id=161&mdl=DSCF717

Check whether the LCD screen of the Camera looks similar as given on the page.

If yes, click on the "Yes" button at the end of the page to create an online Repair Request for sending the Camera to the Sony Factory Service Center.

Memory stick error

Hi There, In the menu there should be a setting to set the camera back to factory. Try re-formatting the card. Try using a different card. The camera has some built in memory, take card out and shoot 2 pics on built in memory, is playback ok?
If not, card reader may be defective. Only service shop could tell you that for sure.
Let me know, mr cicmo.

Every picture I take is whited out

A bright LCD usually means no signal to the LCD - a loose connector. A temporary fix is to tap it - if you're lucky the connector will reconnect. The long term fix is to disassemble and reattach it. It's a $50 job by an independent shop. Let me know if I can help [email protected]
