OK, here are info...
first unplug TV and dvd recorder from AC outlet and put hdmi cable as follows...
at rear side of TV, you have 2 hdmi inputs, hook hdmi cable in any one of them and other end of hdmi cable will be hooked in hdmi out of dvd recorder rear side.
Now, plug both units in AC outlet and power up, go to TV menu > hdmi setup > and perform device list update.
TV will recognize dvd recorder and you will see dvd recorder logo screen.

Let me know if you need further info / help.

Best way to connect sony Bravia TV, RDR-HXD890 recorder and Sky Q box, please??

Connecting your old RDR-HXD890 player/recorder to your Sky Q box and TV can be done by using the appropriate cables and connections. Here is an example of how you can connect the devices:
  1. Connect the HDMI output of the Sky Q box to the HDMI input of the RDR-HXD890 using an HDMI cable. This will send the video and audio signals from the Sky Q box to the RDR-HXD890.
  2. Connect the HDMI output of the RDR-HXD890 to the HDMI input of the TV using an HDMI cable. This will send the video and audio signals from the RDR-HXD890 to the TV.
  3. Connect the aerial cable to the aerial input of the RDR-HXD890
  4. Connect the RDR-HXD890 to the power outlet
  5. Turn on all the devices and set the TV to the HDMI input where the RDR-HXD890 is connected.
By connecting your devices in this manner, you will be able to watch and record TV shows and movies from your Sky Q box through the RDR-HXD890 and display them on your TV.

Can not record or playback on sony rdr hxd 890 Help please from a repairer. rdr hxd 890

http://www.sony.co.uk/support/en/product/RDR-HXD890/downloads/FW_DVDR_124 Make sure the ribbon cable going to the laser head from the main board is seated correctly at both ends. Use a scope to verify signals present at the input to the laser. If not then find where it stops on the main board. If it is present then replace the laser mechanism.

I have recorded a film onto the Sony RDR HXD 860 HDD and then I burned it onto a DVD. I took the DVD and inserted it into my PC and would like to know how to convert that into a DivX

Hi
You need a DVD convertor program that converts to Divx. There is a range of freeware available on the net.
Check out "freeware.com" or in the search box "freeware search"

I lost DVD Sony RDR-HXD 870 insructions. Could you possibly send it to me electronically?

Hi here is a link to Sony manuals downloads

http://support.sony-europe.com/manuals/index.aspx?site=odw_en_GB#m=RDR-HX870

It seems to be only available in Slovenian (probably only produced for that region?)

On right side of page select from drop down box 'home video', second drop down select 'dvd recorder' then in third drop down you should see your model number RDR-HX870 (without D). Download is 3.16mb.
Hope that helps and you can read Slovenian?
